This just came out, wanted to pass it along. I would love an earlier start. But at the minimum, Mariners ARE playing a home playoff game on October 5th.

This is why I don’t root for the Mariners.

JK. I’m just not a Mariners fan but if I needed one this would be a good one 😂

Sucks when a city's infrastructure is designed around its pro sports teams never being simultaneously successful. Unfortunately, I can see how that would be the case in Seattle*.

* And pretty much all other U.S. cities with pro sports teams...

Not by Oct. 5th. They have a 1st round bye, so their first 2 home games are October 4 and 5. Could be done by the 20th. Hopefully not ✌️
Hopefully so if it’s going to negatively impact a trip I already have about 3k invested in.

I’m thinking if they play on the 20th maybe they just move it to a “day” game so that it’s over by MNF time.

No telling at this point I suppose

I fly in and out from Spokane next week, so if they move the game later, I may have to miss the end or miss my flight.

Sucks for your trip for sure. But...Go M's, Go Hawks.

Hey now, if any team can find a way to get eliminated in the bye and disappoint their fans, it's the Mariners

Not as immediate as yours, but I’ve got a surprise trip for my son to see the Kraken on Tuesday and Hawks on Thursday on Dec. 16 and 18. Don’t need any of this shit flexed that week. Can’t believe they’d flex the Hawks and Rams… hopefully. My son has no idea for a few weeks yet.

One option is to move the Hawks game to Monday night 10/6 and create another MNF double header. It would suck for those who already have hotel and airline tickets, but I doubt that they could hold two events on one day. Parking and transit would be overwhelming.

What time are the Mariners supposed to start on 10/5? Staggered starts with enough time to go from one stadium to the other for those that might want to take in both games? How hard could it be to put a 3-4 hour window between games? Those that don’t go to both games would be exiting the city while those going to the later game would be entering the city. Major traffic flows coming and going. How hard is this? 🤷‍♂️

They haven't determined starting times yet, but since the M's play on the west coast, my guess would be that they'd want a 5-7pm start to optimize the TV audience.

If the M's start their game at 7pm, they could probably move the Hawks game to a noon start time and get away with it. But even so, parking and transit is going to be a huge cluster.

The other variable in here is the police and fire departments. They may not have enough personnel and resources to handle two games on the same day as it would make for a very long Sunday. They may want them to spread out the grief. Maybe someone else like @pmedic920 can weigh in on that question.

I 5, 405, 18, 167 all having shutdowns and reductions, so that one cluster, add police staffing, then add lack of parking, and then transit being overloaded. Not sure where they are currently doing construction in Seattle, but it is also nonstop rerouting traffic. Biggest issue though is competing for TV time with a Mariner playoff run starting for the first time in like 30 years and the NFL not wanting to share that spotlight of vice versa. Mariners have had the me first mentality always when it comes to Seattle.
