how loud was it? Loudest ever? I have a hard time believing the Fox noise meter was accurate. It never showed it louder than like 107 decimals. Our record is like 137 and that wasn't even during the NFC champ game.

It got pretty loud but I dunno if it was near-record loud.

the 49er fans showed up more than any other team this year, plus you had all the people going to could afford tickets that might not usually go and aren't as well versed in the art of 12ing.

don't get me wrong, it was a great crowd and we made plenty of noise but I think it was just a little diluted for those factors.

When it mattered most the 12's brought the noise.

It seemed like there were a TON of 49ers fans. At least alot more than usual for opposing fans, am I wrong in this observation? That could have contributed.

Consistently the loudest game all season from 1st down to 4th down. Any body that says different is deaf.

It was VOLUME 12 for most of the game despite the pesky 49ers that had a admirable chant of "DE-FENSE" going when we were on offense. It was DAMN LOUD and I too call bullshit on that Fox noise meter. No way was it only 107 decibels. Hell no. 135+ at times. I'm quite sure the Lynch TD and Seattle Swat play would have rivaled our record.

I guess I'm deaf then. it just didn't strike me as the loudest game of the season. Both NO games and the SF game seemed louder. but who knows. it was loud either way.

It was louder sooner after each play than any other game I attended this season. Not sure the absolute temp was highest. It was cold and humid which may have dampened the noise .. I also realized early my noise wasn't up to snuff, my throat just wasn't ready.

yeah it was more of a tenacious loudness - saying it wasn't 'record breakingly loud' isn't an insult. but m ore than just being incredibly loud it was constant and fans were loud constantly throughout 49er possessions.

I wouldn't say it was the loudest. Then again I was 3 rows from the top. Maybe those lower can say

Pam Oliver sounded and looked drunk AGAIN.

In fact I kind of admire how she manages to get away with being pissed on the TV every week.

What a dare devil.

Maybe not peak volume but close. My point was it was wall of sound from 1st qtr to 4th and 1st down to 4th. Best showing all year.

I attended both SF games this year. First game in the Hawk's Nest, first row, this game in the South End Zone Row M.

Peak volume for this game was definitely louder, but I was in a different section.

The biggest difference though was that the break before ramping up for the next play was much shorter. It was like, catch a quick breath then get right back into it.

I do know that I came away with broken glasses, a very sore jaw (can't bite down on solid food today), and several large bruises.

No, I didn't get into a fight. That was all from celebrating. It was physical in 123 last night.

Great game!

I agree with a post I read last night, something like

The only reason it ever got above 107, was that the noiseometer was hidden in Ms. Oliver's...ummm...private parts.

Easily the loudest game I've been to, and I was at the original record-setting game (Edit: and Beastquake). I guarantee you that if Guinness had been there, we'd have set another on that last play of the game. Absolutely guarantee it. And, as others have said, it is the ONLY game I went to this year (including SF earlier in the year) where there was nearly no break in the sound. People quieted a tad during the play, and then after maybe one second's rest, they were back at it even before the Niners got in the huddle. Freaking awesome.

Edit: If it makes the above (deaf) poster feel any better, there was a very classy (deaf) Niners fan after the game who had the same perception. That said, he got some kind of company ticket to sit in one of the suites, so that may have sheltered him some.

Incorrect.

The echo would have amplified the sound

Only showed 110 on decible meter on tv. It sounded louder though.

A Chiefs fan back during the whole back-and-forth wrote an excellent article about different ways of measuring decibels, and what wavelengths of sound you record. He argued that Guinness was measuring ALL sound energy, including those at wavelengths that are inaudible, to get their intensity ratings, which would give a much higher number. He argued that most games, including the Chiefs in the 90s, were measured by a means that measured only audible ranges, producing measurements around 105, which were probably more accurate. This particular fan is a sound engineer, and I think it's a great read. Didn't seem biased one way or the other.

Can't find a link right now, though I did try.
