something our defense should be concerned about. If Ryan is having issues getting the ball to Jones and White he's going to just dump it off to Turner and Gonz. Middle linebackers and our safeties will have to play FLAWLESS. Number 1 team at running screens atlanta is

They ran 69 screen plays this year. It is a way of compensating for their pretty bad run blocking.

Meh, earlier in the year, maybe. KJ and Bobby have been doing much better a sniffing out screens. And do you remember how Browner killed that bubble screen against the 'Skins?

Not really worried. That's why we drafted more speed at LB. Expect Smith to play a lot of downs. His speed will be important.

exactly. It's their running game in disguise. They just throw the ball to the runner, essentially.

You remember the last San Francisco game? Our LB's and Safeties pretty much hammered those screens in to the ground. I'm far more concerned about Roddy White and Julio Jones getting vertical ... and Tony Gonzalez doing his thing than I am about that.

The screen and also the short dump offs to the RB scare me. Remember the first SF game and all the little dumps to Gore, and then another team, shortly after had the same success on Seattle.

The size of your db's will probably help you greatly against WR bubble screens. They have gone one of two ways this year- a bust for no gain or a pretty big play. It came down to execution with blocking. I honestly don't expect to see as many screens in the flats to receivers.

The screen game is used frequently to compensate for their underwhelming rushing attack, but there is more to it than that. When Koetter (OC) was hired, Mike Smith told him to develop the screen game. Their last OC had said that they didn't have the personnel to run screens. Before this year, if a team could get pressure with 4 down lineman (think Giants playoff game), they would shut the offense down because Ryan wasn't able to run screens to mitigate the pressure he was facing. Hell, he couldn't even check down to Turner (stone hands). Now he can call screens and it has made a world of difference. Reason #98729837423 why Atlanta fans hated Mike Mularkey.

Well, we can't have anything driving your nuts before game day now, can we? I know how I hate it when someone drives my nuts.
