Do you think Russ ever thinks, "I wish I had never left Seattle, I had it so good there"? Or does he not have enough self-awareness for that?
I doubt Russell cares. I don't think he looks at the world like that. There is a certain element of narcissism to Russell's overall behavior. Taking that concept a bit further, sociopaths with Narcisstic PD, when the jig is up with their current social or professional group, i.e., their schtick, their "playbook" isn't working anymore, what they do is find a new group and present themselves as a victim of the evil group they came from, in order to 1) Gain sympathy, blame their previous group; and 2) Prevent communication between the old group and the new group that would clue the new group into the "playbook" of the narcissist. Now, I'm not saying Russell is a sociopath, in fact, I don't think he is, but the narcissistic part seems to apply.
I would expect Russell's mindset to be, as he's stated in various media, "They (Seattle) didn't get enough great weapons for me, cheaped out on the offensive line, allowed me to get hit a lot, never truly let me and my brilliance cook, and failed to appreciate the beauty and perfection and excellence I brought to them. They (Seahawks organization) deserve to get screwed over for wasting my Hall-of-Fame first-ballot prime. Denver showed they valued me, with what they gave up for me and paid me, but then they sabotaged me with a bad OC and didn't build around me, even after my brilliance in beating KC twice, and it's their loss, and I'm still getting their money. Now let's see if Pittsburgh gives me the platform and talent and builds around me to get back to the Super Bowl. In any case, I'm getting Denver's money. Seattle still has value for me because of the Super Bowl "I" won there, so I'll use them and the memories to prop up my media profile."
