Loosens the grip of an early game's demise.

Anybody see this at .com and does anyone think the new age Seahawks can buck this perennial trend of road woes?:

" Sunday's game kicks off at 1 p.m. in Charlotte, which makes it a 10 a.m. start in Seattle. And the Seahawks had better get used to playing early -body time, at least - because they're also scheduled for early kickoffs against the Texans in Houston (Week 4), Colts in Indianapolis (Week 5), Falcons in Atlanta (Week 10) and Giants in New Jersey (Week 15).

These early kickoffs have haunted the Seahawks through their first 37 seasons, but this season coach Pete Carroll took steps to prepare the team by practicing at 10 a.m. during training camp.

"I think it's going to be a great thing for us, just because we've been practicing at 10 o'clock," quarterback Russell Wilson said. "I think that is something that's real."

In their first three seasons under Carroll, the Seahawks have won in Chicago (three times) and also at the Giants in 10 a.m. starts. But they've also lost seven times - at St. Louis, Detroit and Miami last season; at Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Dallas in 2011; and at St. Louis in 2010.

But this team is better than those teams, and should be better prepared for the early starts.

"You have to make sure you're getting your sleep and getting your rest," Wilson said. "Coach Carroll and Sam (Ramsden, the team's director of health and player performance) have done a tremendous job of talking to us about that - getting our hydration, getting our sleep. Making sure that we're prepared, because we're going to have a lot of those games.

"At the end of the day, though, if we're ready mentally, it doesn't really matter when we play or what time we play. We'll be ready to play and make sure that we try to bring our 'A' game."

I guess if that is the only thing you took from it to get to the short useless point that you made... cool, more power to you.

However, there was plenty of "good stuff" in there on how the Seahawks are preparing for those starts that will be interesting.

And for a team that lost 6 road games by a total of 26 points in 2012... one can hope the Seahawks can figure it out because if and when they do...they can truly be a dominating presence, no matter the time or place.

Teams flying in early to get them use to the time change. Plus the 10am practice starts should help.

I like our chances, so does Golic, said we're going to steamroll them sunday. hope he's right.

I am more worried about the heat this weekend. Oh, and the fact that we will have to be wearing our blue uniforms will be making it that much worse.

IMO anyone who doesn't get up and moving before at least 6 am is missing out on the best part of the day.

I prefer a 4 am wake up .... 7 days a week ..... 365 days a year.

I'm more worried about the heat too.

That's great they've been practicing at 10am, but hopefully Paul Allen also installed heaters on the field that turned it up to 90 degrees.

Why bother with that, when they can just get a bunch of industrial size cooling fans for the sidelines? That, and a steady supply of oxygen, should mitigate the effects of the heat a bit.

Wouldn't this be a good game for the Wolf Grays?

inb4 Roland comes in and tells you that "such n such" study proves playing in the dark blue is cooler then playing in the white.

I'm pretty sure Seattle has to wear the dark blues for distinguishing purposes.

over the years west coast teams have tried everything to try and adjust to the dreaded 10:00 east coast start,....I don't think anything has worked on a consistant basis,....
best solution,...just be motivated and have the better team,...this year we should be the better team!

We'll be fine, we've got Bruce Irvin, superior TE depth, and a higher SPARQ rating than everybody we're going to play against.

I realize that Carolina plays a lot more often in the heat than the hawks do, but I don't think the heat is going to impact our squad significantly more than it effects them. It's the first game of the season and it's been pretty damn hot here in Seattle all summer. I realize it's a different kind of heat, but one has to consider that a significant amount of our players aren't homegrown, so a good portion may very well be used to the heat in Charlotte. The same goes for the Panthers. A lot of their players aren't from there so they will be working towards acclimation as well.

We won't be the only team on the field dealing with the heat. Sure, it might affect us a tad more, but I don't think significantly more. These are extremely conditioned professional athletes we're talking about, that will have sideline tools to help overcome the heat. They'll be just fine.

Go Hawks!

They didn't have as much of a problem with the heat when training camp was in Cheney. We miss being able to watch practices, and take our boys there when they are old enough to remember.
