Honestly I liked Drew when he was here and, similar to how I feel about Sam Howell, I feel he can be good in the right situation.

That being said, Geno is better than both right now. I think Drew could have been our qb of the future if he stayed, I think Sam has a lot of potential. There are tons of QB’s (Darnold for example) that need time and the right situation to be successful.

I didn't think Lock was worth a damn but I still have a soft spot for any Seahawks QB.

The Hawks kept wasting opportunities by not signing Darnold and Mayfield, allowing Lock to join the Giants instead of GeNO, again, not starting Howell who just needs more touches to be the next Darnold or Mayfield.

He's on an awful team, so I have some sympathy in that regard, but damn, he's sure not elevating himself above his situation.

I thought he was a smart signing by them, and I also, apparently erroneously, thought Howell was a sage pickup for us. Maybe neither Schneider nor I have a good eye for backup QBs. Schneider has been fortunate that he has had durable starters so it hasn't bit him often, but he really needs to re-evaluate the kind of backup QB he looks for. Maybe we should be employing the kind who has led his team to victory before, even if their best days are past, rather than using the roster slot as a development thing.

I get that, but there are Andy Dalton types available every year. I'm just wondering if we should be targeting those rather than high-upside development types who havn't shown they can lead a team to anything. I guess you're screwed either way if the QB goes down for the year, but I think there should be some reflecting on whether we'd be better off with someone who isn't going to come into a game and look as completely lost as Howell did last week. To be fair, Lock did fill in competently when he had to make a start last season. I think it's something for the front office to think about in the offseason.
