It does. He almost got us there last year as a rookie. I honor the man, I have a shrine built about him in my living room.

When I shook his hand back in November I told my wife, this is the hand that shook the superbowl winning QB's hand.

Yes I had to wash it.

Nope. Still Hasselbeck. Let's not forget that in a just and fair world, Hass would be wearing a ring for a Super Bowl XL..

But he isn't. That's the fact.

And it's not just the lack of ring either. Wilson is the ultimate playmaker. That 4-5 game stretch where he had a few issues (his first such period as a pro) have clouded just how sensational he's been.

A legend already and one of the leagues top QB's.

Nobody is diminishing what Hasselbeck did in Seattle, but Wilson is without doubt #1 now.

We don't need him to play 6-7 seasons here to say that.

I say a resounding YES! Nothing else compares to winning the big title.

What does .NET think?

Yes

No question. And alot of us felt he was the best before the victory. He can't compete with accumulated stats that can only be had over a career. I think the better debate would be between Krieg and Hasselbeck - now that one is actually close. Wilson is a higher caliber, the eye-test alone should be enough. But he is also 24-8 career, 4-1 career postseason and SB champion. Everything he's done so far - he's done better. If the Seahawks were wiped off the face of the earth right now and we never had them for another season, Wilson would be our greatest QB ever in my mind.

IMO he was our greatest ever QB even before we made the playoffs for one reason and one reason only.

If you were given the chance to staart a new team with any Seahawks QB past or present in his prime, which would you take?

Wilson, of course. And hes not even in his prime yet.

In terms of just pure talent he's better than Hasselbeck, and it isn't even close in that regard, winning it all just put him over the top. I feel bad for the dude that has to come after Russell, that might be the worst job in Seattle's (not just sports) history.

Watching since 81 and I say absolutely yes! But I would have said that at the end of last year too. Ask yourself who you would pluck out of the past and replace him with and I'm sure it will be evident beyond a shadow of a doubt who is the best.

This question is so easy that the people who say no are being borderline ridiculous. Here's why:

It's a big game. Who would you rather have under center?

It absolutely does. He's going to have a long, successful career with us anyway so this just cements it.

Nothing this team has done in the past--or will do in the future--will ever compare to what happened on Sunday. Our first Super Bowl win in an absolute romp. Even a perfect season would just be on the same level as this one. We may have won with our defense, but Wilson has a great game as well. He wasn't just along for the ride; we wouldn't have won HFA without him. So, regardless of career stats (which he's clearly trending toward anyway), he's easily the best QB this franchise has ever had.

I mean, if we conceivably win next year, and RW makes a run for a 3rd ring in the next 5 years, he'll be 1st ballot, HOF, no doubt. Winning at 25 certainly gives you an unreal advantage.

Aikman had really average statistical seasons but is viewed as all time great because of the rings.

The biggest misconception is that Wilson will continue being the same QB for his career --believe me, he won't. Some may not remember very clearly, but Tom Brady was NOT the QB he is today early in his career. When he was actually winning all those superbowls, he was in fact, a lesser player than Wilson is today. I'm talking about pocket passer wise.

In his SB year of 2001, in the regular season, Brady completed 63.9% of his passes for a measly 2800 yards with 18tds and 12 INTs at a QB rating in the mid 80's. In his superbowl win, he passed for 145 yards and had 1 TD and 0 INts. Very "pedestrian" if I do say so myself. This was the level he was at, in that part of his career. He had a GREAT defense and GREAT talent surrounding him, just like Wilson does today. But he was a "game manager."

Point is, it takes 4-5 years for a QB to grow into the player they are going to be. Wilson is in his 2nd year, he is going to continue to grow and learn, and in year 4-5, he is going to put up 4000-5000 yards passing and 40 TDs in a year. It takes time for all QBs to grow. Just look at Manning's 2nd year in the league, very "pedestrian" when compared to his 5th.

Definitely. The team's talent level will fluctuate over the course of his career. I have to think that before he's done, he'll have a year where he puts the team on his back and carries them to another SB win.

I tried to resist liking him so much last year, and failed.

and I hate QBs.

I understand that some might need more evidence, but I was all in on him last year and all this year did was legitimize my decision.

"This victory" doesn't make Russell the best we have ever had, Russell being the best we've ever had made this victory.

Hasselbeck has a nice warm secure spot in my heart forever and ever! In fact, I would love for him to come and be our 3rd stringer and get a ring with us next year... he deserves one. But, with that said, Russell is easily the Seahawks greatest QB of all time.
