I see a average defense at best. We arent going to have a once in a lifetime LOB just always be there. We dont create turnovers is the early issue and our coverage is soft. I dont see play makers in secondary.

Certainly don't have anyone out there looking to get in the mud and kill the other team. Bobby leads by example and has never really been that type of guy. I was really excited watching Blair in preseason because he was looking to destroy the other team whenever the ball was in his area. Not much swagger out of the CB's either. Frank Clark took on the angry motivator role last year and I haven't seen anyone replace it. Getting Reed on the field should help get some attitude back.

Part of the reason why I'd want Jalen Ramsey (on top of being the best CB in the league), he jaws the whole game and backs it up in spades. (Adams on the Jets would be nice too if they continue losing) Can get into the semantics of what it'll cost to get him and if he'll be happy in a zone D, but this defense is definitely missing the pissed off demeanor we saw for 5+ years. Pete's defense up til this point has been anchored by excellent secondary play who can tackle like LB's. There's no risk taking play maker and there's no one who punishes you for trying something across the middle.

It has nothing to do w/ swagger and attitude...Its just the talent level has drop off tremendously. You cant replace Kam, Sherman, & Thomas. Losing one is doable but all three gone forget about it.

To be fair, i think this year our secondary seem better than last year in terms of covering and preventing blown coverage. For some reason our tackling has gotten worse. It was bad last year and now it seems our LB are not as great at it either. I wonder if its all the penalties/rule change remove some of the aggressiveness/testosterone from players.

I really wish we picked up Minkah. Ramsey too but the asking price is too much, i think by the season progress he will get cheaper if the Jags continue to lose.

IMHO it comes down mainly to a lack of pass rush. We aren't even getting pressure, much less sacks. Making the QB throw under duress is the main thing that gets your secondary turnovers.

Ding ding ding. Attitude and swagger are great but I want elite talent. John Schneider hasn't found much upper end talent in recent years.
Who has he drafted in the past 4 years with the looks of being upper tier talent.
Metcalf? Reed? Maybe Dissly? Maybe Griffin? A punter?
Not looking good.
Then I want coaches who maximize the talents of the players.

Lack of talent is glaringly obvious. Makes me wonder if Pete really is as good as we think at evaluating talent.

I heard it said over and over; coaching, match-ups and scheme is the difference maker nowadays. The draft is such a crap shoot and the salary cap will prevent you from having long term success.

Teams or coaches relying on the old rebuild through the draft and hope to find a few diamonds in the rough are in for a rough time at getting to the Super Bowl--much less returning to the Super Bowl.

Guess which coaches excel at scheming for match-ups and coaching?

The swagger doesn't come first, it comes after you prove yourself. We didn't hear Richard, Earl, Doug or Mikey B's mouth until they walked the walked on the field. Hell, the first time most people heard Sherman was AFTER The Tip, remember how everyone was freaking out over how he acted yelling at Erin Andrews?

So why don't we have this sort of swagger anymore? Because the defensive unit is average, that's why. No one, inside or outside the locker room is going to listen to or respect players that strut around fake swaggering with attitude if they're not proving it on the field.

Remember the Fisher Rams? That's what fake swagger and attitude looks like when you can't back it up, it's just annoying nonsense.

You have to make impact plays to have swagger develop in a unit, de-cleats, interceptions, shutting down guys, sacks, Touchdowns where you run over guys and make them look like they were standing at a Urinal as the WR receivers run by them.

None of that is happening anywhere on this team, Wilson and Wags are incredible players, but they have never been about pumping up with emotion like those guys listed in the Article, Bennett was not mentioned or Browner but they also brought a attitude and played with a purpose.

I saw exactly this in Week 1 and immediately missed the D-with-an-additude we had during the LOB years. Also seeing a bit of it on offense. If I were coach, a nonchalant approach on game day wouldn't fly. Needs to be focused, chomping-at-the-bit, and locked-in like you're the maddest you've ever been in your life.

Here’s something the Seahawks should do to light that fire they need: print in large bold letters the statement Sherman uttered a couple years ago: “THEY’VE KIND OF LOST THEIR WAY.” Post it on a wall for all the players see during player meetings and in the locker room. Let THAT motivate them to bring a PO'd attitude to the field and play with laser-focus intensity, physicality, and a fervent desire to smash those words into shameful little pieces.

It comes down to leaving the checkdowns wide open, so if the QB feels pressure he just has to dump it off.

IT's so early we don't' really know how good this Defense can be. Pete fields great defenses year after year. By week 8 we will know what we really have.
