Here are the facts:
For a typical NFL game, a -3 turnover differential = 90% chance of losing.
The Packers are not typical. For an offense like that, the odds are longer.
Seattle spotted the Packers three extra possessions, with excellent field position. Or better said, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, a rookie that torched the Cowboys, and Aaron Rogers were given beautiful gifts. A collective of receivers that I would deem better than that of the Patriots.
Seattle held that team to 22 points. Less points than the Patriots held them.
That wasn't just a choke job by the Packers in the final quarter. That was a Seattle defense, rapidly using up the "pitchers count" of effective pass rushes by a defensive line getting little reprieve, that stuffed the Packers throughout the game. Believe me. One touchdown and five field goals, mostly from gifts of great field position, is stuffing the Packer offense.
If you ponder it for a moment, it was an incredible defensive display. After all, that "mediocre" Seattle offense out gained and outscored the Packer offense that was gifted those three extra possessions. Just like they will out gain and out score the Patriot offense in the Super Bowl.
The answer is no. This defense fears no receiving corps. In the end, the Patriots receivers will be attempting to locate Kam while catching the ball. Perhaps even short arming a pass or two.
Having said that, there is only one receiver that might torch Seattle. That would be Vereen. If there is a single big weakness for the Hawks, it is covering running backs on a delayed wheel route. We shall see if Belichick has done his proper film study. Of course if Vereen is inserted, they are basically telegraphing the play.....unlike "every down" Lynch, who is a much better receiver than most pundits give him credit for.
