DK has to fight for extra yards there because if he does not break free - we lose.

Sure it 'almost cost us the game' but it didn't.

And what cost us the game was going into overtime and doing nothing on offense.

DK isn't stupid.

You are on the road. If you go to overtime, especially with an overly conservative coach and a D grade QB, you are losing. And we did.

The only chance is breaking free fighting for yardage.

Shannon Sharpe was dead wrong. He doesn't watch Carroll enough to know we were running the effing clock down with minutes to go before the end of the game - seconds that became crucial to try to score a TD (which we did not) and even try for the FG.

DK was right even though he tends to lose the ball when he fights for yardage like that. Because if he fails to score there, we lose - and we did because he did.

'Hero ball' is the only way to overcome Carroll, who will happily run his own clock down WHILE BEHIND IN THE 4th QUARTER. It isn't a high % shot, but it is the only chance DK had and he took it.


His reaction to Sharpe is admittedly off. Shouldn't be reacting to Twitter after a loss regardless. But nothing wrong with how he played that.

Guarantee you that even with 18 seconds on the clock, Pete runs the clock down and plays to kick the FG.

There were precious few seconds on the clock.

The only way he wins that game is to take the decision/ball out of the coach's hands.

It did not work out because he wasn't able to get free. But it was the right call.

That is the point. Running out of bounds is the safer play but with Carroll on the sidelines and whathisname as your QB, it will just end in a loss - even if you bring it to OT.

You have to at least try or you lost already.

DK was right to do what he did, even though it did not work out for us.

The right play was to grab the easy extra yardage on the outside to give your kicker a higher percentage chance of making it.

Step out was all that was needed there. If it wasn't for Swain there would have been no OT.

This. Catch it and get out of bounds. He should be taking crap for it, AND a more importantly LEARN from it.
That wasn’t smart football in his part. Situational awareness is part of football, his needs to improve in that area. Good thing is though, it’s fixable.

If Metcalf was in the clear with no one around him for 10 yards, then maybe. But that wasn't even close to being the case in this instance. It was a stupid, moronic move similar to some of the bonehead plays that has happened before with this guy and that quite frankly, I'm getting damn tired of seeing out of him.

If you have Wilson at QB, the smart play is to get out of bounds with 18 seconds left.

With Carroll and Geno?

Carroll is kicking that FG 100 times out of 100

Geno isn't scoring a TD in overtime.

So you better figure something else out. I don't have any problem with what DK did because it was the only way to win. Putting the game in Geno and Carroll's hands is will result in a loss, almost every time.

And since DK is one of our best players and one of maybe 2 difference makers left, and that assumes you include Tyler in that category, you had better embrace it.
