With the way they went out on a cap limb to shore up the defense, they more than likely sold their souls to try and win it all this year and were shown the door.

Manning....Old, ineffective
Both Thomases.....F/A

supposedly Luck's line sucks. What happened to the great Ware and Von Miller. Luck had all day.

It was bad all around for Denver.

It's Brock Osweler time.

Their window slammed shut Feb. 2, 2014 in MetLife Stadium, New Jersey.
The Hawks have a habit of slamming other teams windows shut. 8)

I think the idea in the back of their heads that they could win in all only toget thrashed about AGAIN by Seattle in the big game just suppressed their appetite for the goal.

The difference between getting high priced free agents and growing drafted players together is quite obvious.

Come on Kats, don't exaggerate for the sake of .NET approval.

Leave it be at the Denver end. SF is built completely different from them.

And whatever you think about Kap, Peyton right now is probably not much more of a passer than Jim f'n Harbaugh.

I have said it before that when it was the Hawks and not the Niners in the Bowl, I did want to see Peyton taken down and got more than I bargained for.

Turns out Peyton has been playing with a torn right quad since 12/14/14.

There is not even a draft around it its airtight. The bad news for them is they went all in retooled the offense. The only one that effectively runs that offense is physically on the decline. Mentally from his comments last night, I am not even certain that his heart remains in it. Elway has a rebuild project coming up soon.

Was he ever on the injury reports? If not that is Belichick territory right there...

Perhaps, but I don't really think this is a good example of that.

With the Broncos additions on the defensive side of the ball this year they went from 16th in the league in YPG to 3rd in the league in YPG. If anything it's a good argument for the power of talent by any means necessary.

The story here is entirely about Peyton and his apparently torn quad, which actually explains a lot. If anyone was wondering why in the world in the second half of the season the Broncos turned their offense over to an undrafted free agent running back who in a year and a half in the league before had amassed less than 25 carries, well, we've got our answer. :)

As for Denver's window, when I opened the thread I didn't know about Peyton's injury, so rather than being injured I thought he was just done. Something clearly wasn't right about him. So, the window might still be closed, but given it was something specific (an injury) rather than time just totally catching with him, I'm not as sure that door is as fully closed as I assumed it was.

The question isn't did Denver's window close, the question is was it ever open?

Peyton was never going to beat any of the more physical ball control teams in the NFC, whether it was Seattle, SF, Carolina, Arizona, etc.

Simms commented on this yesterday when the mediocre Colts D was taking Manning's gimmicky ass shallow pick and screen offense to the woodshed. The jigs up on that crap, teams have figured it out.

I admire Manning, but I hate the Broncos for trying to buy a Superbowl with Manning and all the money they spent on defense this year.

Im not exaggerating for the sake of .net. how can you say our window is open without being a homer. Im a realist. Still no coach still no oc still a lot of major injuries and a shit load of free agents.

One of the biggest lies in the media....at least compared to Wilson pass blocking Oline

What Denver has had the last two years proves that what Indy did was smart.

Thank you for your service Peyton but we are changing for the long term. It is what NE will do at some point but not what every franchise would be willing to do.

Guess it takes certain kinds of pills and drugs to have the courage to make the right decision....

I believe 31 teams had their windows closed the day #3 was drafted. Luckily for them he'll probably only play 13 or 14 years in the league.
