Not only do we lose a good push(granted, Jones is oft injured)but we need to replace Clemmons! I just don't see him coming back. DL is a huge need.Uncle Si":2y2zfejj said:Seahwkgal":2y2zfejj said:I really expect a drop off on our defense. I guess the FO doesn't see the need to pursue it. where's the dropoff? Not having Jason Jones?
Free Agency isnt even a day old and there are like 6 or 7 names out there that can do what Jones does at a reasonable cost and without the injury history.
Little premature. I dont think anyone here expected Jones to return (its why he was on a 1 year deal to begin with)

I guess my faith lies in the FO. I know it flies in the face of critical thinking, but based on their track record I just have complete confidence that they'll figure it out. Carroll himself said that fixing the pass rush is a huge priority. They've thoroughly evaluated this year's free agent and draft class on the DL, so whichever route they decide to go, I'll feel comfortable with until it proves not to work.Missing_Clink":1qvipkq3 said:brettb3":1qvipkq3 said:Meh, not sure I agree. Sure if we make a couple signings like that we would be ok. Not sure if that will happen or how realistic it is. I also think it is pretty unrealistic to just assume that we can draft two guys without a first round pick and expect them to have a big impact. Can it happen? Sure. But often it takes time for young guys to really get a feel for playing DT in the NFL, even when they are very highly touted coming in (see Gerald McCoy and Sedrick Ellis). In my opinion there is almost no chance we get 2 rookies this year who come in and are instant upgrades over Branch and Jones.
Normally I might not be too worried, but this is a superbowl caliber team right now. I am loathe to put that much faith in rookies when the team is so close. May have to though

We went 3-1 in games without him, for the record. Let's just bring the next man in and make it work.

And as noted above, we haven't even gone through the 2nd day of FA yet. How do you know the FO isn't pursuing D-line help? We signed Jones on the 4th day of FA last year. Give it a minute.

yup, neither did Fisher and the Rams.pinksheets":1xbuoh8a said:Anyone find it curious that with all of the reports of interest in Jason Jones, none of them included talk of the Seahawks trying to re-sign him? Maybe there's a reason for that.
