I dunno, Rufus Porter was pretty awesome. I'm not saying an every down role at DE but in obvious passing situations or 2 minute defense. Could be a good change up. And not saying it has to be him, but somebody bringing some heat off the edge.

We went out and got two of those guys in Ansah and Clowney, to use more draft capital midway through the season to find another guy would be an epic failure with so many other needs to address before the trading deadline.

Pete and John addressed the issue, now we need these two to earn it. Especially Ansah. Dude's making a $1,000,000 a month, and he's been healthy now for 3-4 weeks. It's time to perform.

Who's talking about draft capital?

How else are you going to get an impact edge rusher midway through the season.

Well, in my post I specifically mentioned trying Queem out there.

Our defense is still going to be a bottom tier unit. I don't see how Reed magically makes everyone better. I see bigger issues afoot that Reed won't be able to solve on his own.

The secondary is the huge elephant in the room. Thompson, McDougald, and Flowers are playing really bad ball at the moment. To add to this the tackling is particularly bad, especially from the aforementioned group. I'd say that this unit is the least disciplined Carroll unit I've seen. Fundamentals in particular are lacking. Really odd considering our DC was an excellent LB coach that emphasized tackling fundamentals.

The play calling is also highly questionable on defense. I kept seeing Ziggy Ansah in coverage, sometimes 10 yards past the LOS, that really confused the hell out of me. I'm sometimes seeing LBs on WRs, really weird, strange and nonsensical things. I hope that Carroll gets more involved here.

Blame the new rules, just watch that Cowboy game yesterday, I think we are playing not to get penalties a lot more with these guys versus our old Bump and Run coverage, things need to settle out and Coaches need to understand what to coach, seems nobody knows what Pass interference is anymore and what are the boundaries.
