They don't sniff a SB without him. PERIOD
Who are you responding to? Forgive me if I assume it was me, since I just posted, yet I can't find anything in my post that relates to your response....or anyone else's.Darnold contributed. He didn't win games. It was a total team effort.
Sure, but unless the team is really good, you don't win the Super Bowl. And while you might get away with it with a "good" quarterback, a "better than good" one is significantly better. Tua, Kyler, Cousins...don't even get us to the Super Bowl, much less win it.TEAMS like ours that win as a TEAM effort are usually the best teams in the league. Once assembled our team built itself in the lockerroom and carried it to the field.
Everything I have heard is that our QB room is very tight with each other. All three of them. And that is the best conceivable situation we could hope for in the development of Milroe, as well as having Darnold realizing his role and doing his part to lead us to SB wins.
It wasn't specifically 'aimed' at anyone. I've seen people posting that Darnold won games, others saying Darnold didn't win games, and another gaggle saying the Seahawks could have games and/or the Super Bowl with multiple other QBs. Darnold was an important part, but so was every other part of the team.Who are you responding to? JSN also didn't throw the ball to himself, I might add.JSN didn't get 1,793 yards and win OPOY by himself.

If there was 1 post more than others it would have been the previous post that you had also replied to, (IE Year of The Hawk), but there wasn't really anyone that I felt I should tag. I didn't think it was Darnold who 'won' the Super Bowl, and to be fair he didn't say that he did.
Yep. You can also technically say that Tom Brady never won games for the Patriots - he was part of a team. Same for Joe Montana, Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, and plenty of other great quarterbacks who could have been traded for slightly less talented quarterbacks and watched their former teams get knocked out of the playoffs before even reaching the Super Bowl. And you can say the same about Sam Darnold. It's all conjecture, of course, but most of us are able to reach reasonable conclusions.Like you just did.
I mean I do get it.
It's just like the same old argument regarding whether Wins should or should not be a QB stat (technically, it shouldn't but it is so I measure Sam based on that as well as his overall performance this season and the postseason combined).
Just like JSN didn't throw the ball to himself.
Sam didn't catch the ball and run for a TD.
Sam also didn't sack opposing QBs for a loss.
Nor did he Kickoff-or-Punt return for a TD.
This is absolutely a TEAM game where if you get the right players that are the right fit, then your team will become very successful.
Sam turned out to be the right fit for this team and it paid off in spades.
We should see if they’d trade him for riq, is it too late??Gem, I seriously underestimated Christian Gonzalez.
I think he's going to be pain in the ass in this league.
Good thing he's in the AFC though I saw our schedule and it said the Hawks will HOST the Pats at Lumen so that game will be an interesting battle between JSN and Gonzo.
Somewhere in between. He wasn't carrying a ground chuck team on his back like Brady or Mahomes did, but only a QB can lead game-winning drives, and in the latter half of the season and the final Rams game, he stepped up.I get the sense, and this is what I was trying to convey in my previous post, that Darnold's value was downplayed because our team was very good. But I've even heard that teams were overall just not very good this year, so it wasn't such a great accomplishment that we won the Super Bowl, and that Darnold wasn't all that important.
He almost single handledly beat the Rams when the defense struggled. In what world did Darnold not win games? He also has multiple game winning drives. Baffled with the idea Darnold didn't win us gamesWho are you responding to? At least we have him signed for two more years. I personally think he's our most important player. It doesn't matter if he's Mahomes or Allen or Stafford level - he's 2025+ Seahawks level, and he's getting moreso with every game.I think Darnold is the least likely of those three to get extended simply because of the expense of his position (and of the other two contracts). But it'd be nice if John does find a way to do it. QB uncertainty is the worst.
Yeah, barring some kind of holdout there is no reason to extend Darnold now. He doesn't strike me as the kind of player that would hold out, so I think he gets his extension next year, when he has one season left. That's been the Seahawk way.At least we have him signed for two more years. I personally think he's our most important player. It doesn't matter if he's Mahomes or Allen or Stafford level - he's 2025+ Seahawks level, and he's getting moreso with every game.
A world where flv2 lives in, I suppose. He almost single handledly beat the Rams when the defense struggled. In what world did Darnold not win games? He also has multiple game winning drives. Baffled with the idea Darnold didn't win us games
