No I'm complaining that the Cheerleaders for Darnold are ignoring the fact that the Hawks shouldn't have been down 16 in the first place. If Darnold didn't have the history he does maybe things would be different. But until he proves himself for more than 15 games I have my doubts.

I brought up punt return because without it there wouldn't have been a win and Darnolds efforts would've fell short.
And that's why NFL Football is a TEAM game. 200

Wait I just noticed something :

What the hell is this?, @Biscanebay12 ? 😲

So 15 games isn't enough for you?

Why not just say Sam will never prove himself even if he has 100 games.

Seems what you really want is for Sam to fail.

I mean I don't blame you, actually.

Last thing you want is for him (Brock Purdy's backup) to somehow make his way to the SB and win one at Levis, amirite? 🤭

A Niners win would be great for him. Because:

1 - The Niners strength is that front 7 but their secondary is less intimidating.
2 - Everyone thinks the Niners are one of the top teams in the league.

The person who has to believe here is Darnold, not us, but the media would stop chirping at him if he could deliver in that game.

The 49ers need their offense to win games for them. Their front-7 is a complete shell from a couple years ago. They rank last in the NFL with 16 team sacks and have a really hard time generating any pressure. Their corners are the strongest part of that defense.

Of course odds are it won’t happen this year because the odds are against every team winning the SB. 31 QBs aren’t going to get it done. But he gives us a chance. A chance we didn’t have last year. A chance that Minnesota won’t have because they let him go.

Yeah I was gonna say, none of that is true of the 49ers this year. It's actually much more true of the Rams - their D-line are beasts and their back seven are questionable.

Man, is this place going to turn into a bunch of polarized takes of either praising or criticizing Darnold way too much?

The guy was an FA. He's making less than 2/3 of premium QB $$$. He's not supposed to be a superstar. He lets us try to beat these teams with MVP caliber QBs by overmatching them at most of the other positions. If the Rams games are any indication so far, this concept can work and can work with less nail-biting drama with some improvements that are well within reach.

Would help if Kubiak would use more playaction during the first 3 quarters of the game.

Sam does not do all that well in basic dropbacks (especially shotgun).

He excels on Bootlegs and Roll-outs.

That's the way to go here but I don't know...I'm just a fan, not an OC.

My concern has always been that he will become an Andy Dalton (five straight WC losses), doing well enough to keep hope kindled and discourage investing in a drafted QB but never winning the big dance.

Difference though is that Andy Dalton didn't have a Defense (and Special Teams) like Sam does.

I like his chances at winning playoff games this season.

Wow. Hot take alert. Geno would never bring a team back, and if he even got close he would take a sack and throw an INt late.
Hilarious. Geno had multiple 4th quarter game winning drives. We just making sh*t up now? 🙄

Did you read the comment that he was responding to?

"He(Darnold) is Geno. But with less charisma"

I mean...come on, man. LOL

What are you talking about . I wasn't responding to what he was responding to, i was responding to CPHawks comment that Geno would never lead a team back, and called BS on that. Because he did it multiole times.
Maybe go back and read his comment again. Measure twice, before you cut. Might save you some embarrassment. 🤦

I think he's probably better than Andy Dalton. His surrounding team is much better than anything Dalton ever had. My long term concern with Darnold is he plays just well enough to make top tier $$$ and we end up paying the same rate as someone like Goff but only get 70% of the contribution.
