Besides he is still waiting for the Geno carpet to be reomved from the locker room all of you laid out. I remember very very few of us were all in on Darnold day one, it was a lot of WTF a swap of the same talent but a few years younger. He was a failure everywhere he went and it was Minnys system, as soon as he had adversity he folded. I remember a lot of them. I was perplexed as well thinking we would go after a Drafted guy again that was almost ready and keep Geno.

So if he has treperdations about showing who he is I can understand, he is winning everyone over, but this is Seattle and there is a instant pitchfork App on Every Fans phone and a rope as well.

He is keeping his head down, doing his job, and fans be damed I am sure since they have turned on him everywhere he has been.
Well this is why Sam only has an Instagram account as his only Social Media source.

Imagine he had an X (Twitter) account...his head would've exploded with all the trolls, mockery, whining, bitching, and insults thrown his way.

He said he doesn't worry about people think. He only listens to his teammates and coaches.

He might not come off as an "alpha" type but when he speaks, players listen. JSN "loves" playing for him. He is a true professional.

Mike Macdonald is the same way.

Both are authentic, cerebral and laser focused on the mission. And that's to win a championship.

I would say that Sam Darnold is the anti-Russ. Team first, calls no attention to himself. Beloved by his teammates. More interested in the opportunity vs. the money. He would have given the Vikings a hometown discount if they were interested.

He took the $33.5 million/year deal with the Seahawks very quickly while there were rumors that the Giants and Steelers were also interested. For the record, the deal he signed with the Seahawks was well below the projected contracts that both PFF ($41 million per year) and Sportrac ($40.1 million per year) predicted he would get. Had he waited, and played the teams off each other, he could have maximized his value, but he chose a spot he wanted to go to, rather than getting as much as he could.
I think Sam wanted a long-term deal but the Vikings were like either "Nah. How about another 1-year deal but we'll give you a raise?" OR "sure but just realize that once McCarthy is deemed ready, you will take a seat."

Vikings brass are idiots and thank god for that 'cause who knows where the hell this team would be at this point this year without Sam at QB. (certainly not 6-2)

I mean, what a weird dude. Almost all the memorable QB's I've seen during my arse wipe of an insignificant life stood out to me personality-wise in some marked way, their aura, or whatever you want to call it. Joe Montana's self-assured, almost cocky grin like "I'm going to get you, it's just a matter of time"; or Tom Brady's "I'm smarter than you and work harder than you and I will prevail over you" thing; or Patrick Mahomes's "just give me the ball and some time on the clock and I'll find a way"' or Marino's "I'm going to show you how this position can be played like no other". All leaders in each their own brazen kind of way.

And then I come to Darnold for such considerations, and I'm stumped. Does he have a personality? A recognizable aura? Something that just sticks out and slaps you in the face with it? He's like the tortoise in the race that doesn't even know when he's passing hares. Just da-deet-da-doo-da-deet-da-doo put my left foot in front of the other. It's almost like he needs his coaches and teammates to stop him and tell him he's doing good, or he'll just keep on humbly plodding along saying to himself I must get better, I must get better, I must get better...

I don't quite know what to make of this guy. He's a weird QB. A weird dude. I don't quite know how to embrace him. Yet.
As prolific as Marino was, he was NEVER in the same conversation as Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Patric Mahomes or even Jim Plunkett, so Sam Darnold ain't a blowhard-braggard, SO WHAT?

Please don't compare Jim Plunkett to Dan Marino. And if Marino had played on those 49er teams or Patriot teams he would have had plenty of SB's too. He played with bad defenses and limited talent around him. He carried those Dolphin teams and set a whole new standard for the QB position his first 5-6 years or so in the league. Joe Montana himself knew just how good he was. First ballot HOFer.

Exactly..And we got him just at the right time with the defense coming together..!!
Me thinks he'll be here in Seattle for a long time .
As with all things, it's all about TIMING.

There are teams that have the defense, have the offense, but are missing the QB to complete it.

That team, imo, is the Vikings (and they had the QB but let him go and now he's OUR QB).

Our team had the defense already, the offense developed lightning fast, and we have the QB to complete it all.

And he's just 28 years old.

John Schneider, as much as some of you guys love to get on his case, deserves to be a contender for Executive of The Year.

Chris we may disagree on Russ but we agreed on Geno/Darnold lol.

Mel Kiper was on espn this morning talking about 80% of the time if early first round QB fails its on the team and not the QB as bad organizations ruin really talented QB's. Every once in a while the league just misses at the position but its not as much as we may think. Darnold was ruined early on by bad situations and it took him some time to regain his confidience and show the immense talent he's always had. Same can be said for Baker, Daniels and a few others.

I still think the idea teammates don't like Russ is completely overblown by 2-3 voices. We just had Michael Bennett come out and call out Sherman for his negative Russ stuff and he sees Russ as an incredible player and teammate. The list of other teammates who have come out in support of Russ is 10x longer than the 2-3 guys who don't like him and one of them is Sherman who is a clown.

I'll always push back on Russ not being a team guy. The dude played hurt multiple times and never said a word about it. We've had other guys since him bring up every injurty they have after every bad performance. Anyway you're not all wrong but I still think the anti Russ stuff is exaggerated by many.

You know what's weird about him weirder than the past... He throws darts, not only does he throw darts(Absolutely beautiful passes), but, the are thrown in stride, Receivers don't seem to have to make any bodily adjustments,, they are running and the ball is in their hands at the same speed they are running. Pretty refreshing than watching our receivers having to pull up and wait for the ball.

Well, that said, that was based on SUndays game, I don't recall the other games.
