I'm watching the video.

He pats the ball, then throws. That pat is what gave time for the fumble. He could have also stepped up in the pocket.

It's hard to be an NFL QB, yes. But Sam Darnold is an NFL QB and needs to be better.

His time to throw is an issue and with the current play calling not setting up the play action it seems to be a contiuation.

I like to compare Darnold to Chris Chandler because with play action Darnold is very good but you need to establish a running game to make that work.

I would like to revisit your comment here with an interesting comment by Dugar :

Yeah I just can't see blaming Darnold there unless you KNOW his first read was Walker and I don't think it was. I hate PFF but watching the game I thought Darnold played decently and the offense was more a function of play calling, bad luck and circumstance. Ever year every team has a couple of clunkers for no reason and this will be one. I think against Pitts we look much better, I hope.

All I did was give my reason on why Darnold would be to blame if he didn't have the mental strength to keep throwing to Kupp after 1 drop. Nowhere in my post did I personally attack you

I didn't think he looked bad at all. I did have a problem with the play calling. When we actually threw the ball downfield Sam had some really nice throws.

This. Unreal to hear this level of bitching and whining after 1 game. Had his blocker not gotten knocked into him on the last series, we would have won or tied the game.

The Vikings didn't re-sign Darnold for what we saw today. He's a journeyman first round bust like Trubisky. He hasn't been good anywhere he has been. Time to draft someone in Rd 1!
