I think it also means McDonald beat him out for that final DT spot. I'm happy we were able to pick him back up after we cut him.

yeah. McD's got game. I was disappointed when I saw he got cut. Glad to see he's making the most of his second chance...

Clinton playing the way he has so far since coming back after getting cut probably made this move easy for the FO.

Additional roster moves today:

Seattle has also waived DE Adewale Ojomo off the practice squad, and re-signed DT Sealver Siliga and WR Bryan Walters to the practice squad. Each had been released in the last week as part of Seattle’s seemingly constant moving of parts on its eight-man practice squad.

The cutting of Smith leaves Seattle with an open spot on the active roster, so expect more roster shuffling to come.

So, who else is signed to the PS?

LOL, we screw the Jags again. We get to keep our pick.

RT @ryanohalloran: Seahawks waiving Smith wipes out 7th-rd pick #Jaguars would have received. He had to be active for at least 1 more game

This right here tells me that it's likely this move was more about the fact that they knew he wouldn't be here when we made a spot for Bruce, so instead of giving up the pick to keep him around one more game, they just decided to drop him. I wouldn't be surprised if we sign someone for a week or even leave the spot vacant for Bruce's return. It would just basically mean one less inactive player for the game this week.

I'm guessing we just roll with 52 players this week. Seems pretty likely that they cut Smith to make room for Irvin. Anybody they sign would just be cut a week later, and they can't really call up any PS guys because they would be guaranteed 3 weeks on the roster (or 3 game checks, not sure which). Either way, it's not worth it. We are fine at 52 players for a week.

As far as the players involved, Smith has looked pretty useless in two games. Even with very high effort he is a non-factor. If they did keep him, his only value would be as a 1-tech backup, but McDonald can do that just as well and he's a far better pass rusher. McDonald had a solid game against SF (no official stats but he was in on some pressures) and a monster game against Jacksonville.

Awesome. Cheap rental......pick it up, rail on it, drive the wheels off of it, and return it w/out filling the tank backup. That is what they get for not asking for a deposit or credit card. Heheheh.

Uh, yeah that'd be way awesome but at the same time it would be nice to have a filler OL to throw at Watt.

I don't k now what the hell I was just thinking. Having MikeRob back for pass pro would certainly be better than a scrub tackle.
