From 86 to 63 is a huge drop off. Maybe it was the injury. Maybe it's bad o-line coaching. This would seem to suggest otherwise:

Season isn't over, but so far he's looked like he's taken a step back.
I'm not going to make excuses for the man, But!,.. He's coming off a bad knee injury, signing with a new team late, trying to still recover from said injury, trying to learn a new offense, trying to learn his new teammates (the guards) which keep changing.. I mean give the guy a bit of a break here he's a quality center and I'm not going to say anything bad about the guy until I see him next year fully healthy and fully in the understanding of this offensive scheme and a full offseason to know his fellow olinemen...
Need to factor in alot while making this statement, 1. Coming off an acl injury, which not many player can recover from in just one offseason 2. Signing with a team late and not getting those preseason snaps 3. Learning a new offensive scheme 4. Trying to play with the two garbage guards beside him... (I watched the Allday podcast with Lofa and he brought up a good point, he said the knee is probably still bothering him because most guys with try to over compensate for the weak appendage do to injury and that might be why he's having issues with the shotgun snaps)...This would seem to suggest otherwise:

For all the whining from my draft day "screwed the pooch" thread that got me band from posting. 4th rd pick #119 (the next pick after #118 Tyrice Knight) Mason McCormick RG is a rotating starter for Pittsburg. Getting equal snaps as their starters since game #3. I often think how happy their GM must have been knowing that was a need for us. 5th rd. Bills pick (after TE Barner & CB Pritchett) Sedrick Van Pran-Granger C is proven to be a quality backup at center that they think (halfway through his rookie season) is their future starter. We choose to go with 32 yr old Laken Thomlinson and high snapping, foot tripping Connor Williams. Scouting is everything in this league. And as far as O-lineman go we suck. Abe Lucus, 19 games since he's played and we drafted him knowing he had knee issues. Same with Fant, didn't finish last season with knee issues. Haynes can't beat out Thomlinson, we'll take the high snaps over Oluwatimi. Anthony Bradford!! I'm so done with this GM.Is it me or have we focused so much on issues at guard and RT that somehow Connor Williams has slipped under the radar. He’s been shockingly worse than I thought he’d be. If he’s not snapping it like he’s coked up having a seizure he’s getting steamrolled. Is it just me? I thought center would be a strength after his signing. Man it’s seemed bad but not discussed as much as RT and RG.
Creed Humphrey?
I agree with most of this, but do have a couple of points:For all the whining from my draft day "screwed the pooch" thread that got me band from posting. 4th rd pick #119 (the next pick after #118 Tyrice Knight) Mason McCormick RG is a rotating starter for Pittsburg. Push don’t play for this teamA turkey sandwich could be the second best blocker on this team. I thought Conner would be better, but he hasn’t been too terrible… as a pass blocker. I haven’t seen “push” all season in the run game.
He’ll probably start spiking itI think I have solved Connor's snapping issue. We just need to replace Geno with a 10 foot tall quarterback who can catch the high thrown snaps, problem solved. You're welcome!
Could also be the 2 horrible guards next to himFrom 86 to 63 is a huge drop off. Maybe it was the injury. Maybe it's bad o-line coaching.
Prior to his injury he was consistently ranked as the top 1 or 2 centers in the entire league.I saw Connor look horrible all game. Just not a good player.
Dude, there were several snaps on Sunday that I saw Geno had to move his hands at least a foot to corral besides the ones that got away. I'm not saying Geno is blameless, but it takes 2 to tango, and Williams DOES NOT impress me.The snap was on the money, Geno just let it slip through his hands. Also bogus holding call on long ball down the middle to JSN
