Props for coming in here and taking lumps, dude. That's high-character. Best of luck against Carolina this week.

I can see where people just point to Lynch and say the running game was shut down, but the loss of hats on wilson did produce significant rushing yardage. the hawks got about 30 yards of garbage time rushing yardage, but when i checked the stats around the beginning of the 4th they were still at a total of 98 rushing yards. That's not exactly bad, and they did technically end up with 127 total for the game.

True but the zone-read worked as brutally well as it did (and we didn't run it all that often) because the Saints kept on selling out on Lynch on running downs.

Ryan's plan seemed to be "bottle up Lynch and force Seattle into a passing down, and then force a second year QB into mistakes by blitzing him". Essentially turn Wilson into Brees and make him beat them.

He did. By now I thought the book was out on Wilson. You DON'T blitz Wilson....not unless you like burnt toast for a secondary.

Thanks Guido for being such a class act all week long. And thank you for showing the good sportsmanship to come back over, shake hands, and say, "Good Game." That's exactly what I teach the kids that I coach (be a gracious winner and a gracious loser) and I'm glad to see it. Despite what we saw last night, the Saints ARE a good football team. It's just that the rest of the nation last night finally woke up to the fact that the 2013 Seahawks ... are a special team (just like the 2009 Saints were). Take care and go blow out the Panthers this Sunday. I have a strong feeling that the Saints and Seahawks will meet one another again this year.

Yes. And there WILL be snow for that one.

Class act Guido. Last year when we lost to the Falcons it was tough, but we weren't a complete team yet. Last night was one of the best performances I have ever seen from an NFL team, and it was always clear that we were playing against a very good team. I wish the Saints a speedy recovery, but this year I'm putting my eggs into RW's basket.

Wilson ended up being the leading rusher with all those rollouts he probably audibled himself, so I think it's fair to say the Saints stifled our rushing attack fairly well.

I told y'all it'd be a bloodbath and that defense was a paper tiger. Admittedly, I was kinda wrong about the mechanism of their demise - I thought Marshawn was going to kill them - but their obsession with Shawn allowed Russell to pick whatever was left apart. So i'm just going to go ahead and pat myself on the back anyway. :)

HFA is probably out of your grasp now, but good luck taking care of your Division. You're still in the hunt for a 1st round bye; East and North divisions are gawd awful!

Come back any time Father Guido. You're always welcome. We can talk about the weather... ;P

By the way, thank you so very, very much for using the proper word dominant instead of dominate in the title.

i get what you two other posters are saying about the run game, but rushing yards are rushing yards...just because wilson gains a lot of yards due to good execution on zone reads/being awesome at salvaging broken down plays...it doesn't make them anything less than more rushing yards. when a quarterback runs they still have to get past the line of scrimmage and get down the field just like a running back..sure the defense isn't going to key on that a lot of the time, but that is part of the running game. any player rushing forward and gaining positive yards is part of the running game....if you don't shut down the whole animal then you aren't really being successful in shutting down the run.

Please. That is a major issue for me. Why can't you (fans in general) simply realize that you have a damn good team and weather makes no difference? Lose the crutch.

Don't throw that shoulder out of joint for nothing, buddy. ;)

Sure we can talk about the weather. It was sunny and 73 degrees here and I live over 200 miles north of New Orleans.

By all means, Sarlacc. I constantly cringe at word usage ... or, should I say misuse, online these days. While English may be a difficult language to conquer, it lends itself to be one of the greatest tools we have available today.

I also wish to apologize for any undo "yapping" during the previous week. At times I may have pressed the limits of what is proper. I never want to be interpreted as a troll. I despise trolls. But at times I forget my place as a guest and engage in a little .NET on .NET crime.

That is the NFL. That's why we love and hate it so much. It gives us the greatest joys and rips our family jewels out on any given night.

Guido, you are first-class all the way. I respect the Saints team and I would say they are my 2nd favorite NFC team. However, I'm not sorry about the pasting that the Seahawks put on the Saints. Saints are a very good team. They are a championsip caliber team and the Seahawks beat the living crap out of them. Not only is it a message to the Saints but the rest of the league. This Seahawk team is focused, they have their sights on one goal, and anyone in their way will be dealt with. It's the chip on the shoulder attitude they have and it's working for them for the past 20+ games. Next up is the 49ers. The goal hasn't changed, just the venue and opponent has.

You're very classy Guido (I loved him on SNL). Surprisingly a majority of your fanbase is just as classy. Thanks for coming back and taking it like a gentleman.
