Curious where you would put him, then...90? 80? Can't get a lot lower than 89 on a 90 man roster. :229031_shrug:AgentDib":11kz72qi said:I guess he's rating based strictly on 2019 impact but that seems like an odd way to look at depth. We signed Knox knowing full well he'll be recovering from Lisfranc for most of the off-season but that we can likely stick him on an injured list or PS for development. Grading him as our 89th best player doesn't make sense to me.
Swoopes has some good talent ahead of him on a position group that will only probably have 3 people plus Fant on it.HawkGA":3i3dfsz0 said:Tyrone Swoopes and Paxton Lynch pretty far down the list.
Well, we're getting into that range where you can start saying, "He's rated one of the best 50 players, so high probability to make the cut." But that doesn't necessarily reflect the different position groups and how likely a draft pick will be able to win a spot. I mean, he ranked Ott as a "guaranteed" roster spot, but he's the only LS in camp.HawkGA":3mbql6z4 said:For what it's worth, I don't think McKissic will be the last one out. Well, let me rephrase that. Per the rankings, McKissic, Procise, and Homer won't make the team. But I bet one of them does.
To clarify, I think he's rated much to low and from what I've seen he has a much better chance of making an impact on the 2020 roster than many ranked well ahead of him.sutz":3qo8l8sf said:Curious where you would put him, then...90? 80? I find articles like this interesting because I don't have the time or inclination to try and follow all prospects/players as much as many around here seem to. It seems to me that from right now, someone rated at 89 out of 90 will have a hard time even making the PS come final cut, so I don't have a big problem with that opinion.
OK, thanks for the clarification. I have heard suggested (and I kinda agree) that he might stay on PUP for the 1st 6 weeks of the season and make a final decision then. If we have a couple of injuries on OL, he could maybe be activated. If they're staying healthy, maybe he goes on IR and waits and trains for next year.AgentDib":2p6sze5b said:To clarify, I think he's rated much to low and from what I've seen he has a much better chance of making an impact on the 2020 roster than many ranked well ahead of him.sutz":2p6sze5b said:Curious where you would put him, then...90? 80? We'll likely be looking for a young LG next season and there's a few reasons to think Knox could be right in that competition: he was the #2 guard prospect in the nation entering Ohio State, played very well alongside Jamarco Jones who has also impressed here, we targeted him early and brought him in for a private visit, and athletes tend to recover well from Lisfranc injuries these days (83% of NFL athletes returning to play ~10 months cited here). Nothing about his situation says one year camp fodder to me, but rather a currently injured prospect they are going to spend effort on anyway because of potential upside down the road.
