Picked Carolina to upset Seattle 23 -21 based on our defensive line issues. "Seattle is the better team, just not early." "Arizona beat New England early last year, doesn't mean they were the better team."

His blazin 5 segments are amazing. He was correct on 71% of his games last year.

This is one of those games that I worry about and worry about and there's a chance that we'll go in and just dominate them and blow them out. I think he's right, there is no question we are a better team than them, but it's a 10am start on the road.

With the news that Mebane, Avril, Mcdaniel, and Bennett are all expected to suit up sunday, i'm going to have to disagree with this one, i like Cowherd but i think he's got this one wrong.

I'm shocked that Cowherd included this pick given that he is a huge Seattle homer! I guess when it comes to the greenbacks, he pulls no punches. Now all that being said, he was very good last year and made me a lot of money. With that, I have taken a $300 flier on Carolina and the points, thus offsetting any emotional letdown from the loss, should that occur.... lol (And yes, I did put $300 on his other 4 picks also, just to be clear)...

Don't be disgusted... lol

It's like a second income for me and so, I treat it like a business. You have to keep in mind that the only people losing money betting sports are the ones who can't compartmentalize emotion vs. value.

It's one thing to suit up, it's another to play 4 quarters in the heat when none of them have played more than a quarter all year, and most of these guys haven't even played that much.

As we saw last night with the Ravens D, first couple of games of the year are dangerous for defenses going up against a dynamic offense or QB. The Ravens D was gassed by early 3rd quarter. The key to the Hawks game will not be the defense, it'll be how well RW and the offense can churn the clock to give our D must needed 2nd half rests.

I think it's bad form to bet for or against my team, but it's his money.

As for Cowherd? I think his assessment is fair. It's great that Mebane, Avril, Bennett, and McDaniel will suit up, but will they be effective? I think we may see the Panthers move fairly well between the 20's, but if we can stay stout in the Red Zone then I'm confident of a win.

To me, the biggest bonus of having these guys back is that we'll be able to rotate more players and hopefully keep them from getting too hydrated/fatigued.

I am surprised that he picked a straight up loss. I was expecting him to pick a Seattle win but not covering the spread. That is all his blazing five is anyways regardless of who the winning team ends up being.

His record over the past few years have been great, last year amazing but I am pretty sure he started out slow last year and well 4 out of 5 won't be a bad start for him!

I quite playing fantasy football the season I traded Terrell Davis for Joey Galloway. And yes, that was the season Terrell Davis ran for over 2,000 yards and yes, yards did count for points in that league.

Bad form or no, I can't (and don't really want) to separate emotions when it comes to football.

Who else did he take?

He will be hard pressed to do as well as he did last season when he had one of the best % I have seen outside of the LVH SuperContest.

so he's 71% against the spread? not bad. given the vig, what's the break-even?... around 60%?

52.4% to 53% is the generally accepted % necessary to break even. Sounds easy doesn't it?

Hahahaha

The thing is, I "think" he set up his blazin 5 before he knew about Mebane, Avril and McDaniel suiting up. So the line will probably move.

The other thing, his blazin 5 has been so effective, that as soon as he announces it, the Vegas line moves. Say what you want about Colin, but he is the hardest working man in radio and he does love the PNW, he just has to play it down because he has a national audience.

Last year he was so jacked about Russell Wilson he was saying (for all you fact nazis, I'm going off memory here so please don't jump on my post because it's not 100% accurate)

"You don't understand! Where I came from we didn't have Championship teams every year, we had good teams, but not like some of the bigger markets are used to! I love this and I love Russell Wilson!"

Am I the only one sort of disgusted by this? I would NEVER bet against the Seahawks, and no amount of money gained from their defeat would offset the emotional let-down.

No reason to be disgusted. I've bet against the Hawks before. I've won money, but they've usually made me pay for it. It's kind of awesome....they make you lose your bet, but you're never mad at them winning.

That said, I'm superstitious about betting ON them. They almost always let me down in that regard. Then you're doubly pissed.
