Coin Toss - to defer or not to defer?

It seems to me that our team, and in particular our defense performs at it's best when playing from a lead, not as reactionary or as hesitant, but more aggressive and thereby more effective - which in turn generally creates better field position for our offense to begin their drives

In this game, with the slow field conditions, just wondering if we'd have been better off putting offense on the field first?

In Atlanta - if we win the toss, I'd expect Carroll to defer

What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are you should always defer...you might be down at the half, but if you have a staff worth a damn, when you come out in the second half, you're better equipped to know what the opponent is going to do, and you can take advantage of that

That's kinda how I see it. But it just seems that our offense has been the more consistant of late and that could change the decision?

Redskins won and elected to receive. We called heads and it was tails... (heard it on the radio)

Defer. Like the commentators said we've given up 2 opening drive TDs this year. Getting a stop or a turnover can suck some of the life out of the crowd.

Always defer...

On the road the opposing Stadium would be very loud after the opening kick off. They have to quiet down for their offense if they get the ball first. Also, when we start in the 2nd half, their fans are usually in the washroom, beer or concession lines.

Defer. Always. If you get down, you have the advantage of putting on a long drive at the end of the half and getting points, then turning around and doing it again to start the 2nd half.

I think it applies whether you are an offensive team or defensive. If you are defensive team, you stuff the first drive and you've flipped field position in your favor. If you are an offensive team, that drive to end the half and start the 2nd half can really put an opponent behind the 8-ball.
