Meh. Couldn't care less how it looks. Just another game they controlled before some garbage time stuff made it look closer than it was. No different than a few other wins this season.
Houston scored 12 POINTS on offense. Owned.
WIN

Run. The. F******. Ball.

That safety we gave up wasn't on the goal line. We had the ball at like the 7 yard line. And Kubiak calls a slow developing pass play out of shotgun. There was some maddening play calling.

We ran the ball, got good room to pass and Kubiak called a quick hitter 3 step drop and Darnold double clutched. It was the QB's fault. Gotta either throw it or throw it away. Situational awareness.

And all you guys were whining about running the ball too much in the 4th quarter last week. Some fans can't be satisfied unless we blow every opponent out with perfect plays.

Well, in Kubiak's defense, he is hardly calling them "all the time." It's been - what - 3 times in 7 games? Certainly more than we like. Hell, if any one of them had worked we'd be calling him a genius. IAE, he needs to stop for a while, at least until they can actually execute them.
I would NOT be calling him a genius even if they worked.

I would be questioning the decision to even attempt it.

At least with Milroe (as annoying as that was) he's attempting to get him touches (though I hope we never see him again unless we've clinched the Division)...this one with Kupp? No excuse.

You do know that teams run trick plays like that all the time? Often in situations where they are up 2 scores. I've lost count of how many times Bevell ran trick plays when we were ahead and cruising. It's a solid time to try it. Worst time to try it is when you are in a tight game and a mistake will be the difference between winning and losing. We got the worst outcome from the play and still won handily.

And maybe you wouldn't be calling Kubiak a genius if it worked but I strongly doubt we'd be having this convo today if it went incomplete or for a catch. Hell I don't think Kubiak is a genius either but it's for other decisions than trying the odd trick play.

But it DIDN'T go incomplete or for a catch, did it? 😠

I never liked taking the ball out of our QB's hands unless it's to hand it off to K9/Charbs on a running play.

You think I wouldn't have complained about that if the pass was completed? That was a DIG route.

It wasn't like Kupp was going to loft it into the endzone.

We were nowhere NEAR the endzone.

A DIG route, you get your Quarterback to throw the ball, not your WR.

I'm not sure why you're defending Kubiak on this shitty playcall but the bottom line is he cost us a potential 7 points that would've all but broken the spirits of the Texans for the rest of the game.

BTW, I did some research and found out something interesting :

Hmm...so OUR team (now a 5-2) team (that is supposed to be a PLAYOFF team) has done this while the other two are DUMPSTER FIRE teams going nowhere.

So aside from, ironically, the Texans (who went 10-7), again it was a bunch of going-nowhere teams in 2024.

We are better than this carnival-clown show shit playcalling (and yes, I will agree with you that there were other decisions in addition to this one that were shitty)

We don't need to be taking the ball out of Sam Darnold's hands if we're marching down the field for a potential score.

Plays like that are only run when the QB isn't getting the job done for whatever reason. And Sam (despite his up-and-down performance in this one) was more-or-less getting the job done, at least at that point of the game. 🧐

All I heard was a version of "stop trying to be cute" around me at the game (trick play)
I don't know if its just because I was at the game, but it never really felt like the texans had a chance. Maybe after the Darnold sack / Touchdown.
Lots of cheering and lot of fun there

Yeah, but if this happens vs the elite teams we are more than likely lossing these games,.. It definitely needs to be fixed..

I've never whined about running the ball too much. Don't group me in with that crowd.

Sure, it does, but getting pissed about something that didn't happen? Meh. They won.

Yep, I usually yell the exact same thing at my seat. This time I just yelled WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY?

Plus, I was in a very pissed off/bummed mood after the Mariners game. Not a good combo.

We’re either going to spot teams two scores or be up by two scores and then start spotting points. Obviously execution has a lot to do with it but our OC goes full coach Kline at times.

Pulling up on the gas is annoying. But they'll improve on it. A few of these games should have been blowouts, I don't deny that at all.

I just am different than many. When I see an 8 point win, I don't see that as a close game. Garbage time points, a fluke fumble recovery, etc.
They were flat out in control in the Steelers, Jags, Cards and Texans games.

Score often doesn't tell the real picture.
