The #Seahawks worked out/looked at a bunch of DTs over the past weeks. Agreed to terms with Clinton McDonald today, per @schwartzfeinsod

Great news. I wanted to keep either McDonald or Howard for depth. McDonald is not super physical but he seems like a smart player that can diagnose plays.

Three weeks ago...

Seahawks to McDonald: "Take a paycut or you're cut."
McDonald to Seahawks: "No"

Seahawks to Jacksonville: "You got anybody cheaper?"

Three weeks later.....

MDonald to Seahawks: "Where do I sign?"

Maybe Jordan Hill is going on IR. That would open a spot.
Don't wish for that. Hill is a better player. It is good to have McDonald back though. He's got his problems trying to be Bane and take on doubles, but with a less than 100% Bane we can plug in McDonald and get serviceable results.

Hill and McDonald play different roles. It's difficult to comapre them. Hill is a 3-tech while McDonald is suited to 1-tech and backup to Mebane.

I don't know why we let him go in the first place. He's not flashy, but we literally had no guys outside of McDaniel and Mebane who could plug up space in the middle. McDonald's size is desperately needed right now if they are going to be rotating guys in and out.

Why did we not keep Jaye Howard / Allen Bradford again?

Oh well. At least the team wised up with Person. Even if Cable is right, and Person could actually turn into something good, it's worth noting that Tom Cable is the only guy in the world who thinks that, meaning that Person figures to be very likely to clear waivers and be available if needed (let's hope that never happens).

The Seahawks have had no shortage of head scratcher moves recently, but I don't mind bringing McDonald back one bit. He's got a pretty good anchor and can fill in for both McDaniel and Mebane without being a monumental dropoff. He's a really solid player and I was a little surprised he remained available this long.

I guess they are not real high on D'Anthony Smith.

Maybe, but two things:

1) Smith is a project, and will probably live on our inactive roster most of this season.

2) Seattle might lose a draft pick if they play Smith too much, so there is incentive not to play him.
