KK's offense in a nutshell.

* Balanced run first attack
* Outside zone running lanes
* Play action/motion
* Misdirection
* Passing- attack middle field
* Deep shots to stretch defense
* Scheme to strength of players
* Fundamentals & execution
* FB

With the addition of Kupp and 9 of 11 draft picks on offense, I'd say Kubiak will have some nice options at his disposal.
Our success will depend on the OL and Kubiaks playcalling abilities.
We should be pretty jacked-up about this new O, I think they might even take some pressure off our defense.

It's interesting that an OC can be a good one but yet still call a bad game. Calling the right plays at the right time is a big part of being a good OC. I hope he is one of the better ones that we've had in awhile and if so, we can keep him around for at least a couple seasons.

What I want to see is more 1st downs and longer drives. The key to that for me is how well we do on first and second down. If you are repeatedly in 3rd and long situations, your 3d down percentage is going to suffer. I don't care who you are, that's just basic football math. I really want a running game that can get 4 yards on 1st down more often than not.

Klint's father Gary Kubiak and Mike Shanahan have strongly influenced his offensive scheme. KK has 10 years in the NFL as an offensive assistant in different capacities, but only two years as an OC/playcaller.

2021 Vikings.
Ranked 11th in points per game and 12th in both yards per play (5.7) and yards per game (363). But the Vikes had a low 36% success rate on 3rd down which was 26th in the league.

2024 Saints.
The 24' Saints ranked 23rd in passing yards and 14th in rushing yards per game. They tied for 24th in points scored per game (19.9).

I think with 9 of 11 draft picks on offense> Zabel, Arroyo, Horton, Martinez, Ouzts were to give this offense a boost and open up Kubiaks playback out the gate.
Like Falco said above, a lot will depend on his play-calling.

Maybe I'm just injecting straight-up hopium into my veins, but I have a feeling Kubiak is gonna do very well here. I think he can bring a good balance of rush and pass, get the RB's to rush for 2,000+ yards, and get Darnold to get 4,000+ yards with 30+ TD's, while limiting the INT's.

I remember the reports at the end of the season, how Macdonald really wanted Arthur Smith, but I think Kubiak is an even better fit for what Macdonald envisions.

Seattle went to two Super Bowls with Bevell, I think Kubiak's offense, paired with Macdonald's defense, has the same potential as the 2012-2014 years.

I absolutely loved him talking about running the same play out of different sets to create mismatches by not allowing the other team to substitute. Rad.

I didn't know where to put this, but with Kubiak's run-first offense & the drafting of Martinez and Milroe, it's worth a look.

RW3 was a dual threat QB at NC State and Wisconsin and transformed those skills into a Lombardi trophy for the Seahawks. Russell Wilson rushed for 4689 yards in 158 games for an average of 29.6 yards a game.
In his 38 games at Alabama, Jalen Milroe rushed for 1577 yards averaging 41.5 yards per game. In his final year at NC State, RW rushed for 28.8 yards per game.

Seahawks Alltime Rushing

SA37 9429 yds 100 TD
C. Warren 6706 yds 44 TD
C. Warner 6705 yds 55 TD
M. Lynch 6381 yds 58 TD
RW3 4689 yds 23 TD
#6 John L Williams
#7 Ricky Watters
#8 Chris Carson
#9 Sherman Smith

Will anyone presently on this team surpass RW on this list?

I just want more 3rd yard conversions and actually not fail on the goal line with scoring to top it off. Scrambling more wouldn't hurt. I know I know..probably asking way to much.

Why did he switch jobs so fast? It's an honest question...year here; year there. Seems like someone would have extended him.
I remember reading an article about that and it was pretty much. Just bad situation after bad situation and coaching staffs. Being fired with pretty half a** teams management, so all kinds of reasons. I just can't remember the name of the article.It was a couple of months back

Two things I will be watching:
1. Are we getting into 3rd and short more than 3rd and long?

If we're running the ball and constantly getting positive plays, then we will be sustaining more drives with 3rd and short situations. Assuming the strength of this team will be the defense, "complementary football" is an offense that may not be the most dynamic, but always burns 4-5 minutes off the clock. Nobody's going to blow us out if they only get 6-7 possessions per game.

2. Are we finishing the games/season strong?

Every team in the league watches tape and will be experts on what we're doing on offense. The truth on Kubiak will be told on how well he overcomes halftime adjustments and if he can prevent our offense from being 'solved' by week 8.

I don't expect KK to be overmatched like Grubb was, but I am also skeptical as to whether he could have sustained NO's early success had everyone stayed healthy too. We shall see...

Go Hawks!

its the difference between knowing how to play chess, the moves, strategies and sets, and actually knowing when and how to use them to win the match. There are a ton of guys that can string together moves, but cant do so in a manner to get the checkmate. A good OC has a great feel for the game, understands his opponents and is a master strategist who always has their team in the game. A good play designer but bad strategist is an OC who can have all the players needed, have the best plays, and is always in danger of squandering a lead or losing a game because he gets out smarted or just plain cant read the board and call the right plays at the right time.

Just maybe we will have an OC that attacks another teams weakness and exploit match up issues rather then constantly try to challange and over come their strengths for a change.
