Richardson is not a sack monster, his game is all about collapsing the pocket.

Richardson has never been a sack monster. He had one good year for sacks in his career.

What he IS good at, like you said is collapsing the pocket and moving the QB off his spot. He's also been really good at improving the play of those around him.

And he has done both of these very well this year IMO

After seeing the entire quote I think Bob Condotta is being irresponsible here. Pete also mentioned injuries in that same sentence and how given all of that it hasn't worked out the way we hoped

You guys are both absolutely correct and Condotta should be ashamed of himself.

It doesn't matter though because everyone is so upset after yesterdays loss that they will latch onto anything like a pit bull whether it's true or not, or whether it's been completely taken out of context or not. People could basically make up anything, and I mean anything, negative about Pete right and much of this fan base would believe it instantly and use it as evidence of why he should go regardless of if there's any truth to it or not.

yeah listening to the interview this is taken out of context. Seahawks twitter is just insane today

Yup, he was speaking more broadly about the team not being in position to control its own destiny. They thought the trades would help accomplish that, and they haven't (for a variety of reasons). Brown and Richardson are certainly not the problem.

He had 16.5 sacks his first three years with the Jets and last year was playing out of position at OLB. I'll take 5 sacks a year from a DT any time, but he's only got 1 this year. The Jets must have been deploying him in a more effective way than we were.

Wentz does in for a TD against us at home if Richardson doesn't make a play. Seriously under the bus with both of these guys, and that's good form by Pete.

Both are quality players that we're lucky to have. Are they rentals? fine. But they're not the problem, and trying to be part of the solution.

Pete seems like he's inadvertently incriminating himself and the other coaches with this statement. To have this many pro bowlers on the roster and still be so mediocre is an indictment of the coaching.

Boom. Exactly.

Sheldon was actually our highest graded player for the game per PFF. I don't think he's been bad at all, he just hasn't jumped off the screen like many of us were hoping he would. Definitely won us the first Rams game and was critical in stopping the Eagles' momentum in the second.

If they didn't go for Malik we would have Ramcyzk or Robinson on our right side and Ifedi would either be playing guard or sitting on the bench. The Richardson trade was fine so was the Brown one. Signing Joke and Eddie Cheeseburger Lacy instead of offering Lang another 2 mil a year or something wasn't,

For real, there's only one Aaron Donald and he aint him. If that was the expectation then the Jets could have done a ton better to shed his salary. Let it go folks.

yes!

There is a clear and direct correlation between Brown's addition and Jimmy Graham's production. You may choose to ignore it but the evidence is solid. By adding Brown we closed the back door and allowed Jimmy to be a pass receiver. Brown just can't play three positions at once. He or some one with his skill set should have been added to the roster sooner. We also should have added actual NFL players to the other line positions as well. Pete won't admit this though.

Pretty much this. Trying to tag Brown and Richardson with blame is silly. Hang that albatross around the collective necks of Joeckel, Lacy, Lane, and anyone involved in the Percy Harvin trade or drafting of McDowell.

Pete Carroll needs to stop calling out players like this. Might as well just get them all hats that say "dirtbag" on it.

I don't think he's saying they're not living up to expectations. I think he's commenting about how the Seahawks went all-in this year for another Super Bowl run and the team is floundering badly and are looking like they will miss the playoffs. Now they face an offseason where they have no cap space ($18 million with only 37 guys signed, three of whom might all be on NFI and unable to play. Sherman, Kam and Avril. And those three guys can't be cut while injured due to injury guarantees) and very few draft picks to fill in the roster.

Good point. Ramcyzk or Robinson should consider themselves lucky for not having to learn under Cable. The teams they are on currently have better OL coaches.

Ifedi is technically performing well for first yr tackles. In another thread I provided stats to back up that claim. His flags are high but so are most first year tackles.

Difference? Most tackles in first year allow 8.5 sacks per year. Ifedi is allowing 2.5 sacks.

So he is above average by about 40yds in flags but 6 less in sacks. If you wanna say Russ saves him, that is true but at times Russ hurts the line.
Do I think he is a stud? No. Is he as bad as the hate is? No.

If we are just going on our annual seahawks.net whipping boy.....

Ifedi sucks!
