If we take care of business week to week, we won't even need to speculate about HFA.

I want to be the first to say that it is conceivable that San Fran fades to the point where they miss the playoffs, entirely.

Now, I'm not promising anything, nor predicting that outcome, but they got pulverized today. And. Dare I say "exposed"?

As Seahawks fans, know, that team is currently not equipped to play from behind (last year's Super Bowl not withstanding).

I just don't know if Lions AND Bears can win enough games to eliminate San Fran from the playoffs.

As posted above, it makes it so that one of the following 100% has to happen:
1) We lose a home game; or
2) We play in the Super Bowl.

I like our odds of #2 a lot more after today.

What about if SF wins out and SEA loses on the road @SF and @NYG?

We win the tiebreak at that point because we have a better record against common opponents thanks to our win over Carolina and their loss to the same team. The fact that the Giants aren't on SF's schedule makes that the least important game remaining as far as tiebreakers are concerned.

But if SF wins out and we lose to them and NO, then we'd have the same record against common opponents and in conference games so SF could potentially win the tiebreaker at 13-3 based on strength of victory. Do I have that hypothetical right?

Yes. We have to hold serve at home, otherwise the tiebreakers get bad again.

I think SF loses to NO next week. We just have to win at home from here on and it's a #1 seed

Packers, eagles, ravens and giants still on lions schedule. I think lions lose a couple more games.

Our Seahawks are in the drivers seat. That feels so weird to type, lol

15-1, I can see it ( and no doubt at all in my being as I post this :snack: )

what does that do for the hawks home field advantage

The Panthers' win over the 49ers gives the Hawks a 3-1/2 game lead in the NFC West.....

BUT!!!... The Saints beat the heck out of the Boys' tonight and that puts them at only 2 games behind the Hawks for the 1st seed in the NFC, I believe the game vs. the Saints on monday night "might" decide who has home field advantage throughout the playoffs...

It just gives us a small bit of breathing room in the event we slip up.

The bottom line is that we need to just keep winning each and every game.

Agreed. We can lose to the Saints or the Niners and still be fine. This allows us to play looser and not look over our backs so much. It makes it easier for the guys to execute the "one game at a time" mantra and not look to other teams.

We still have to beat the bad teams that we should beat on the schedule though.

This win today by the Panthers also pretty much sealed the division for us, barring any stupid melt down or catastrophic injury.

The Niners lost their good young FS and Davis to concussions. I don't see most guys coming back in a week from concussions in the new NFL. They play the Saints next week, at NO. If neither Davis or Reid play, NO will tear them up.

It absolutely is possible. They're 6-3 now and still have a road trip to New Orleans next week, a road trip to Washington and 3 division games left (including the rematch with us).

They can easily finish 10-6 and miss it completely.
