Who the hell is this guy? According to the ESPN Seahawks depth chart he's our WR2 Tate back up.

Any reason he never plays? Read somewhere about a futures contract, is that different to the practice squad?

He was on the PS, released, then signed to the team or something like that. I'm thinking he'll be released when Harvin is activated. Lockette is probably going to get bumped up to the 53man roster according to Baldwin.

He is actually a pretty good WR with good hands. I believe he can return kicks too. I remember during camp he and Russ were connecting on a lot of plays. To use some Gruden terminology, "if you give him a chance, a legitimate chance to win a starting job, he'll win it".

I would love to see him get a shot.

If you read about the futures contract (wikipedia?) the information is outdated. During the regular season you can have 53 players on your active roster. Once the season is over you need to fill it up to 90 players for your preseason roster. Many of these extra players are signed to "futures" contracts. You are only eligible for this if you were not on another teams 53 man active roster when the previous season ended.

Last year on 1/31/13 WR Phil Bates, RB Derrick Coleman, CB Chandler Fenner, TE Cooper Helfet, LB Kyle Knox, CB Ron Parker, LB Korey Toomer, DT Myles Wade, WR Bryan Walters, K Carson Wiggs and WR Stephen Williams were signed to futures contracts.

After cutdowns to our 53 man active roster, Walters was signed to the practice squad. on 10/12/13 he was signed to the active 53 man roster.

As for why you don't see him play, there are only so many passes to go around. He hasn't been on the inactive list of 46 players for any game yet, so he is eligible to play. I haven't been paying attention to see if he plays on special teams.

The easy answer is do you want to take away catches from Rice (at the time), Tate, Baldwin, Kearse, Miller or even Willson. We're a run first team after all. Only so many passes to go around, let alone the lowest WR on the depth chart.

Walters is a surprisingly tough player. Good over the middle receiver who can takea hit and keep on ticking. Good outside blocker too, IIRC.

As daft as it sounds him not being on the inactive list is probably the reason i hadn't noticed him. The inactive list is usually announced every week.

I had read the futures contract thing on wiki. NFL can be tough to follow, you think you have learned it all and them something you haven't heard of pops up.

For those who never read it, .com did a piece on him 2 weeks ago, a few days after he was activated to the roster.

I view as Doug Baldwin light. Anything Walters can do Baldwin can do better

Don't forget that two years ago Baldwin led the team and receptions he was not healthy last year he is this year and he rarely drops the ball

In Doug we trust :)

All I know about this kid is when most my WRs in Madden got injured, he came up and was clutched it for me.

He was fantastic ALL training camp. I remember saying who is the white dood returning punts and kicks.
Had crisp routes.
