I think a lot of people are a bit short-sighted here in their thinking. As I said above, who says that Holmgren isn't already being consulted with in some form or capacity? In fact, I'd bet on it that that's already happening.

I don't want for it, but Holmy would whip that USC team back into shape in no time. The man is a great teacher and to me, the ultimate for a great pro coach (that's accomplished all there is to accomplish as a pro coach), would be to take over a program like USC. I can't think of anything more rewarding or fun.

Just food for thought, but I wouldn't mind having PC and JS ask Holmgren if he would be open to coming on as an offensive consultant for the team.

There is no doubt that the man knows offense like no one else. He could just be the guy to help figure out how to fix our issues with pass protection and ways to get our receivers open more often for RW. He could probably also help RW take that next step in his development.

A mind like his could be the key to finally getting us a Super Bowl victory and he would probably really enjoy it as well. We all knows he is fond of the Hawks and the 12th man.

As has already been said Mike nothing of our current offensive plans and he has never been much of a defensive mind.

Just let it go, he did great things for us while here but now he needs to retire and enjoy the life he's earned. I personally think he will make the Hall of Fame tho I know many here will disagree but being in that small club of having taken 2 different teams to a SuberB owl.

Oh I'm not talking about what kf3339 is proposing ... what I'm saying is that if I were preparing for a tough opponent, I might bring him in occasionally ... pop on the game film and ask Mike, "What do your trained eyes see in terms of this defense? If you were the one holding the clipboard, how would you attack this Mike?"

Or say perhaps that opponent happens to have a coach from the Walsh coaching tree (like Holmgren). You might ask him, "Given our personnel, current weaknesses, and their personnel ... how might you look to attack US Mike?"

That's what I'm talking about, no more than that -- just a pure consulting role every now and then. I'm guessing that might have actually happened on occasion in the past.

Some of you guys really don't understand the role of a "Consultant". The only one that seems to is Hawkscanner, and he may be right about what is going on now behind the scenes in an unofficial capacity.

None of us know for sure one way or the other. All I was saying he is a resource that could be useful. That is all.

Oddly enough, Mike Holmgren is not really a RW fan, and is not a good fit schematically with either Tom "run the damn ball" Cable or Darrell "chuck it deep" Bevell.

Sorry, Holmgren's ego would/could never allow it. He's old-school in that regard, like Reeves, Parcells, Pinella, Karl, you name the sport.

NO THANKS, I like our current offense and scheme better under PC than Holmgren. MH made all the players play his way even if they did not have those strengths. We don't need MH messing up where this team is going to go with its current and future players.
