Just food for thought, but I wouldn't mind having PC and JS ask Holmgren if he would be open to coming on as an offensive consultant for the team.

There is no doubt that the man knows offense like no one else. He could just be the guy to help figure out how to fix our issues with pass protection and ways to get our receivers open more often for RW. He could probably also help RW take that next step in his development.

A mind like his could be the key to finally getting us a Super Bowl victory and he would probably really enjoy it as well. We all knows he is fond of the Hawks and the 12th man.

So what do you think? Be nice.

That ship has sailed. I appreciate what Holmgren did for this franchise, but nothing good would come of that. He's not fixing our O-line. Big Walt and Hutch are not walking through those doors.

I think no. Our offense is built nothing like the offenses he engineered. His playcalling is nothing like the playcalling suited to this team. I thought playcaller was one of his weaknesses unless he got into a rythm, and then it could look unstoppable....or was that the fact that you could hand the ball to Alexander for 4 yards a pop or have Hass stand in the pocket for a year with the line we had?

Our offense is many things, but a rythm offense it is not. What else would he have to offer as a consultant? A mentor to Wilson? I think Holmgren's strength is as a QB-maker/guru...Wilson is already disciplined enough to avoid turnovers and his best plays are off-script.

Not for it. Holmgren was known as "The Big Show" for a reason. This is Pete's show now and he doesn't need Holmgren casting a shadow over it. I doubt Holmgren has drawn up a new play in years also.

I actually thought he did come in to help out a little, not as a official consultant or anything, but I remember seeing him coming in to just give some tips here and there.

Holmgren would make our o-linemen not get hurt?

Can he pass block? That was my initial thought.

And, umm, no. See Kiffin in Dallas...that's what would happen...game may've passed him by a bit.

We don't have the offensive line to make Holmgren's philosophy successful with this team. He would just muddy the waters.

I loved Holmy, but let's not forget, he squandered an entire year with this franchise as he sat around waxing poetic with his players. Several reports suggested he spent his last year doing more reminiscing than coaching. I am grateful for everything he brought to Seattle, but I was also grateful for his departure. Say no to Holmy! This is Pete's team.

Just for the record I never said he would take over coaching or play calling duties. Being a consultant is more about talking things out and perhaps helping with strategy. Those are things that transcend no matter the system or in most cases personnel.

I know it's not going to happen, but just thought it might be a decent idea.

Well, I'm half-inclined to support bringing back Holmgren just to kill the "our oline sucks" threads. At least with Holmgren, those guys will pass-block. The team wont win and they wont be able to run the ball, but people will stop complaining.

(Note, yeah, I know, but Walter Jones and Steve Hutchinson are once in a decade players that the Seahawks had on one line...so...don't use that as an example).

I've actually been thinking about this for some time ... and what I would say is, "What makes anyone think that isn't already happening?" It was a few weeks back and I believe it was KJR I was listening to. IIRC, it was Mitch who was recounting something about being with Holmgren over at the VMAC when someone from Schneider's office (who was obviously sent down) whispered something in Holmgren's ear. Holmgren answered him, "now?" The response was yes ... and Holmgren went off to Schneider's office apparently.

Now, the skepticist in me immediately said, "you're making something out of nothing" ... but another voice inside me inside said, "Hold on a second. Just think for a minute." Put yourself in Pete Carroll and John Schneider's place for just a second. You've got an incredible resource in Mike Holmgren -- years of NFL experience/knowledge ... former NFL coach ... former NFL GM ... has won the Super Bowl and coached many of the greats ... who aside from some occasional on the side work with KJRam is for all intents and purposes unemployed -- and just so happens to be still living in Seattle. He's attached to no one right now. In his heart of hearts, you know that he still bleeds Seahawks Blue. That Super Bowl Loss back in 2005 still leaves a bitter taste in his mouth ... and he wants nothing more than to see the Hawks win the whole thing. You know that although this is a prideful man ... he has great respect for this team, for Pete Carroll, for John Schneider, for Paul Allen and for everything that this organization stands for.

Given all of that, if you're Carroll and/or Schneider ... might you naturally bring in Holmgren every now and then? Say (for example) you're Carroll ... and you're playing the Colts this week. Might you dial up the game tape for Holmgren and ask him things like, "OK Mike, what do your eyes see? What tendencies do you notice? If you were to be the one drawing up the game plan, how would you attack these guys? What would YOU do?" Or maybe you're Schneider and looking at this next year's draft -- evaluating the tape of some college QB's out there. Might you throw on some tape and get Mike's thoughts?

I don't know if that's already happening (or even could happen), but in my opinion if you've got a resource out there (in your own home town) like Mike Holmgren ... you absolutely look to utilize that. You'd be foolish not to IMHO.

We're 4-0 with a banged up O-Line. Let the team develop. You can only get so much done in practice with the limitation on practice times and live contact. It's going to take some time to gel.

I just don't understand the need for instant gratification and the assumption that the team's play can't get better.
