So equivelent to a high second rounder and a 4th to the team, sayng that due to the way the AFC East is and they should still be able to take the division even with Brady out 4 games.

Brady on the other hand should have been hit with a full season and then arbitrate it if he chose, Pete Rose has a lifetime ban from infractions against the league and integrity. He lied as well.

I will take it as a way for the league to say we will take our most visable and chastise them, heaven forbid of it was the Raiders, Browns or that team in Eqypt that did this.

Absolutely agree about Belichick. I don't see how Payton gets suspended for a whole year and Bill gets off Scot free. I think it may well happen, but it would be really crappy if it did.

There is a 0% chance Belichick gets suspended. The report did not implicate him, as there was no evidence tying him to the conspiracy. The text messages suggest Brady was trading signed memorabilia in exchange for deflated balls; they did not mention Belichick.

If plausible deniability didn't work for Payton, why does it work for Belichick?

If this was a corporation that just got busted, lack of institutional control over your employees is certainly a legal reason to suspend, fire and fine managers. It's why Payton got suspended, not knowing when your players are breaking the rules is not a valid excuse.

Maybe the seriousness, or lack thereof compared to paying players to hurt other players spares Belichick.........but idk, seems like Goodell would want to be consistent.

It's not a question of plausible deniability; it's a question of evidence. Right or wrong, the report did not find evidence that implicated Belichick. Personally, I think it is wrong; a control freak like Belichick probably did know about this scheme. Unfortunately, that's not what the investigation uncovered.

If they had found an email or a text to Belichick discussing the scheme (like they did with Payton), then there is no way he would have escaped a suspension.

If they would have suspended Brady for the season and then arbitrated to reduce if said evidence was presented maybe we would have seen that implication. If he still balked you know that there was dirt there and Brady fell on his sword.

A more appropriate punishment would have been for the two low-level grunt employees to have been suspended four games without pay. . . .

and for Captain Deflate himself, Tom Brady, to have been indefinitely suspended. . . or at least until he decides he wanted to share the contents of his phone with the NFL. . . . . .

I like this idea. what it all comes down to is crime really does pay. I'm convinced that the smoking gun that he ordered the code red is in his phone. He's getting off SCANDALOUSLY light on this. He now can tip toe around with a doubt hanging around as to his complicity. We'll be hearing for all time now from Cheatriot fans about how Tom was "wronged", that it was never proven. He gets his cake and gets to eat it too.

As far as the million dollar fine....that's a bit better...but still....is that from their salary cap? Of course it isn't, so their deep pockets can easily absorb that, with Kraft just writing a fat check and it's over. No pain felt by the team from a competetive standpoint.....hence why NOT continue the shady culture in New England. 4 Superbowls in 15 years (and least 3 of them during the known cheating periods), why not cheat when the rewards are so great? One might say integrity is it's own reward (one SHOULD say that), but we see that people and organizations are alright with cheating if you just have to take on some scrutiny and criticism (grantedly enormous srutiny and criticism).....and you get to keep your hardware and laurels. A price they have been willing to pay.

My question to everyone is: How does this teach them not to cheat again? Or discourage other teams not to do,the same?

IDK, Buffalo is looking kind of dangerous now. I could see the Patriots losing three of their first four games.

vs Pittsburgh L
@ Buffalo L
vs Jacksonville W
@ Dallas L
@ Indianapolis -- Tough first game back for Brady.

This doesn't remove the stink off SB49 but so glad the Pats win is tainted. Wish it worked like college and they could make the team vacate the championship.

Deck is stacked against the Pats now repeating as champions. No Revis no Brady for 4 games. Every team in their division improved.

Where are all those Pats fans from a couple months back telling us that this is much ado about nothing?

Ironic that he gets to come back to face the team that busted him in the first place.

Eh Brady's going to get 2 games when it's all said and done. The draft pick loss was surprising, but makes sense.

They'll win the division but I don't see them repeating, that secondary is a mess now.

This is exactly why I believe it should have been 8 games instead of 4

So he's really only suspended three games? Game 4 is a bye week. Does that count towards his suspension?

Bye weeks don't count. He's not suspended 4 weeks, he's suspended 4 games.

There's plenty on Reddit going nuts. It's really entertaining, so much crying and anger. Their golden boy just got smacked on the nose with a rolled up magazine and they're in shocked horror.

It's beautiful.
