I blame Cable. He has to be the one who's so high on Person. He can coach them up, but I'm starting to wonder if he's very good at spotting the talent.

I wonder if the infatuation with Person as a pure blocking TE is coming from Cable. I've really questioned a lot of the Cable-inspired personnel decisions over the last few years and with good reason, I think.
So have I...love what he's done for the run game but some of the moves have been real headscratchers (still not sold on Sweezy. Should've at least had Moffit for insurance)

Ding, ding, ding...winner.

I'm a HUGE Cable guy. Love him. But, its becoming apparent he has those old-school, stubborn, "my guys or else" mentality. Something we saw with Parcells, Holmgren, Pinella, heck even George Karl.

So who backs up Wagner? Loutelelei or Farwell? Yikes.

They would likely move KJ to MLB in that scenario.

It means Avril and Clem are playing Sunday.

Bradford will too, but for the 49ers.
Nope...we signed a TE earlier today.

Let's not pretend that the FO does not have a much less stellar record in FO decisions outside of the draft.

For a team that has struggled stopping the run, it makes no sense to gut one of our productive LBs while keeping guys on the team that will simply be worthless at contributing in a game this year if they are needed because of depth or injury requirements.

This isn't going to kill us by any means but it certainly removes an arrow from the quiver in a time we need those for the hunt.

I really don't like this move. I think it hurts us now and in the future.

Umm, so you don't think cutting a LB has anything to do with two injured ones returning?

That's alright, what Bradford doesn't know is that he has a fake playbook. :sarcasm_off:

I figured it wouldn't be long before we released a player to sign a 3rd TE. As I've said before, we were carrying way too many LBs so letting a LB go makes sense.

I think that letting Bradford go is brutal in terms of talent evaluation, but I think their calculation here is that Bradford is not well known outside of Seattle and might slip under the radar whereas Farwell has pro-bowl credentials and Lotulelei was a hot commodity in UDFA. I don't know if Bradford still has PS eligibility left, he probably doesn't, but I would be surprised if this is the last time we see Bradford in a Seahawks uniform. If they get away with this, it's a good move, because Bradford was probably going to just sit on the inactive portion of the roster anyway.

Nothing is becoming apparent. Cable has been a god around these parts all off-season. Many fans were terrified he would get hired away.

Carp has been injury plagued his whole career. Nothing to do with his talent. Moffit was injury plagued. He took a late round DT and turned him into a starting RG. Took a GB practice squad player and turned him into a Starting RT. I like what i saw in Bowie and Baily in Preseason.
Now all of a sudden Cable can't spot talent? :34853_doh:

Lot of overreaction based on one game played at 10 am on the east coast which we actually won. No team, including us, is playing their best football right now. For heaven's sake, the AZ Cardinals started last year 4-0 including a win against us and NE at Foxboro. Look what they were at the end of the season.

Get off the ledge people.

Could just be a straight numbers game. I recall people asking why we kept so many LBs when we cut down to 53. I do wonder why they kept Lotulelei over Bradford, though. I thought (as it seems everyone else here did) that Bradford was clearly the better option.

Sucks to lose Bradford but at the end of the day we are still fretting over losing a backup that didn't really meet the measurables our team would like for the position.

To what success? It honestly surprises me how high people seem to be on Sweezy. Look at the last two Seahawks games that Moffitt didn't play a snap in: @Carolina, vs. St. Louis in 2012. Our O-Line was slaughtered in both of those games. I don't think Sweezy has proven a damn thing in this league yet. Our O-line has consistently been terrible in almost every real game he's ever started. I still very much consider Sweezy to be an absolute project. I'm not sold on it, and I do think they gave up on Moffitt too early. I'm not putting all of the blame on him either. McQ and Carpenter were awful, too, but those are also Cable guys. Our only superstars on the line (Okung and Unger) were acquired before Cable got here. I do give Tom all the credit in the world for coaching those guys up. The question here, however, is his ability to judge talent.

Did you actually read what I typed? Or, just use my post, regardless of whether it applied, to step on a soapbox?

I said NOTHING negative about Cable. He's a great coach. Anyone that goes 8-8 in Oakland know what they're doing.

Well, I'm confused. Between this, Person, and MRob, I'm pretty sure the FO is just messing with us.

Good point. I think bringing in two separate Fells was a work too.
