I wish we could somehow keep him because really fits what this teams is about. Quite a few WRs have the same or better measurables, but very few have his combination of elusiveness and Hines Ward-like toughness. With the Defenses we play against, his durability is more important than many are willing to admit.

I like Tate a lot, and hope we can find a way to keep him around.

+1

Remember after the '05 sb, and we let guys walk thinking we could replicate them in fa or the draft. Well, we saw how that turned out. It isn't that easy. There's a reason we made it to the SB, and it's because of guys like Tate, Bennett, et al. The grass isn't always greener, and usually you get what you pay for.

In the end I believe Tate stays unless somebody goes all Redskins ridiculous and offers him 7-8 million per year.

I still feel like he could be a fit in Indy. They have a ton of cap space, but no 1st round pick. They've also shown that they're in a "win-now" mentality and may not want to wait for a 3rd-4th round rookie to develop. Plus, Tate played his college ball in Indiana (Notre Dame). There's also the Jets whose utter lack of playmakers on offense is almost comical at this point.

I really have no idea which way our FO is going to go on this. We need to get bigger at the position, but at the same time, I think Pete probably loves his mentality, playmaking ability (YAC) and what brings on special teams. The dude wins a Pete Carroll triple-crown in that respect.

Well I see indy as a likely scenario because its close to some family ties. I.e. His dad Golden Tate Jr, was drafted by indy. Its Amusing to think he's GT3 we got WT3, and ET3

Percy Harvin is also a 3.

Anyone who thinks Tate gets 2-3 million is insane. He may not be a #1 who will receive top dollar, but he's a solid #2 and a bonified playmaker. He's an excellent punt return man and a great YAC.

I don't know if we'll resign him, I hope we do, but the kid is getting at least (reiterate AT LEAST) $5 mil a year somewhere, if not more.

I may be wrong, but I just don't see any teams going out of their way to give Tate more than we'd give him.

He's a slot type receiver that really played out of his position all year because of Rice's injury, not sure that has any value for other teams looking at him. If anything it hurt his value because there's not a long consistent track record of him thriving in the slot...........and there's not a long consistent track record of him out wide either. So if you're a team with cap room why give Tate 5M a year?

I think Tate will test the market, get a lot of doors slammed in his face........and come back to us for 3-4M a year, maybe even less.

I actually disagree. Tate might be built like a slot WR, but he's not. He's much more production on the outside. When he was in the slot, he was much less effective.

Baldwin is another guy that can play inside and outside, but he's much more productive in the slot than the outside. He's not as physical as Tate and doesn't high point the ball quite as well.

I honestly think we get Tate for the before mentioned 3-4 mil/year. I don't think anyone pays him more than that.

Would love to have him back.. He is a Seahawks at heart and not a greedy punk like Bennett who is just ready to sell this team even for an extra dollar.
"Greedy punk" Gotta love comments like this...

"Business man" is the more appropriate thing.

It's obnoxious but the man has to make money!

Hey, I'm just saying. They paid Amendola 5 Mil. Golden was a golden domer, and the Pats need WR help. It is well within the realm of possibility.

I figure 4.5 million per year for Tate. Belicheck and his ego screwed the Pats again this year. He traded his first round pick to Minnestoa for late picks when he could have had Pattrson. He is wasting Bradys career proving how smart he is (nt)

I think they tender Baldwin with a 2nd which could net us some great talent from this loaded draft.

Sounds right Baldwin and Tate aren't going anywhere. I believe it only tales 4 million for Tate but whatever. And nobody does an offer sheet when a 1/2 round pick is the price.
