Very smart move by the FO to front load his contract for next year. With RW still on the super cheap, real smart to get the bulk of Bennetts pay done in the first year.

This front office is absolutely incredible.

Kudos to Bennett as well for taking less to stay here. He easily could have gone to the highest bidder and instead recognized what we have going here.

I like the numbers. The $7.125 million per year is within what I figured was a 2014 maximum for Bennet of $7.55 million .... and spot on for a system built on a principle of rotational consisting of multiple packages. There is no better place for Michael Bennett to be ... who he is ... than Seattle.

These numbers reinforce the assertion that cap discipline in alive and well in Seattle. :th2thumbs:

It sounds good to have the contact front loaded, but it could mean it's only going to be a 2 or 3 year deal if he outplays the contract. Hope not,but that's today's NFL. Even if that happens, it's still great to have him back!

Of course it is we got what we wanted and Bennett got what he wanted (guaranteed money). It's a win win for both sides.:)

I really thought that he was gone. I had accepted it and was just hoping he didn't end up with a rival. He is a true Seahawk, he really does like it here obviously and got a good raise that benefits both the team and his wallet.

The FO has everything under control.

Man I am happy! This was right in what I thought would be fair. Much more than this I think Hawks would have overpaid. Man I am stoked.

So, everyone thought we should go up to 8 mil and we went 8.5. That's pretty close, and it's still both more than he can spend (unless he pulls a Michael Irvin and gets into the Peruvian Marching Powder) as well as 'generational' money. I hope he doesn't stop trying so hard now that he's been paid.
A random thought - wasn't Bennett the guy that said in a KIRO AM interview that he tried to get a table somewhere, failed, called back pretending to be Russell Wilson, and got the table? Maybe he called JS and pretended to be Wilson, and said he'd sign for 8.5/year.

So much Bennett hate for nothing. Thanks Michael and good luck with your "new" team.
