I'm sure their DVOA went up today, but going into this game it was only +16% for the season, tied with the Carolina Panthers. Seattle is at +34%, second in the NFL.
I've thought all along that SF was a 12-4 team, but only because of their schedule. I think they get beat handily in New Orleans, and I think Seattle kicks their butts in the rematch as well. They'll win all the rest of their games. They are masters of beating bad teams, but have looked very beatable against top competition. In a lot of ways, they remind me of the 2012 Texans. Still have to respect them because of the schedule inequality and because they are more consistent week to week than Seattle is, but Seattle is a better team, and it's not even that close right now.
Well if SF sucks so bad who have you beaten? Seems to me the only team Seattle has beaten with a winning record is SF, who apparently sucks but only has a good record because they play crappy teams.
Bro, I mean c'mon... seriously... honestly... duuuuuuuuuuude....
Seahawks beat:
0-0 Panthers team @ Carolina in a 10 a.m. start in 90+ heat and humidity. Say what you want about only scoring 12 points but the Panther's D is top 5 in the NFL. Not only do they have a killer front 7 but statistically they have one of the best secondaries this year.
1-0 49ers team @ Seattle on SNF. This was supposed to be payback for 42-13 but the 49ers lost 29-3 and the Seahawks left points on the board running the clock out in scoring position.
0-3 Jaguars team @ Seattle. Not much to say but this could have been a bigger blow out had Wilson not gave the Jaguars an easy 7 points off a turnover. After that play, Seahawks pretty much benched half their starters.
2-1 Texans team @ Houston in a 10 am start in 95 degrees of heat and humidity. Seahawks were without 4/6th of their best players on the O-line. Seahawks let the game get away from them in the 2nd QTR but held the Texans in check with goose eggs. Texans were also playing their best ball trying to bounce back off a thrashing they took in Baltimore. But with a little luck and a little skill plus a lot of moxie Seahawks overcame adversity and won a game they probably should have lost.
3-2 Titans team @ Seattle. This game is much closer than it looks because a 10 swing off a fumble from the backup holder. That doesn't happen every day... without it Seahawks win comfortably at 23-6.
3-3 Cardinals team @ Arizona. University of Phoenix as always been bugaboo for the Seahawks. A tough place to win. It didn't help it was also a Thursday night game sandwhiched as the 3rd road game of 4 total during a 5week span. Seahawks handled business and if it weren't for a couple of Wilson fumbles that gave the Cards access to 10 easy points... this game isn't close.
Seahawks lost:
to a 3-1 Colts team @ Indy. Another 10 am start, 2nd in a row. 2nd straight week without 4/6th of the O-line. And the Seahawks controlled much of this game and beat themselves with mental mistakes more than the Colts dominated the Seahawks. Cuz that didn't happen and the Colts also got tremendous help from the Refs that helped put them in lead. Like the Houston game but opposite, Seahawks gave away a game they should have won. Yet this lost still showed the Seahawks are capable of playing on the road vs a quality team and still be able to compete despite shooting themselves in the foot and getting jobbed by the refs on blatant occasions. Seahawks lost this game by 6. What happened to the 49ers in San Fran vs the Colts? Wasn't it like 27-7.
The 49ers loss differential in this season alone at 46 points is still more than the total differential of Seahawks losses dating back to the 2nd half of 2011. During that period, Seahawks lost 10 times by a total of only 43 points. Remember, this is a Seahawks team that is and was inexperienced, young, and relying on significant contributions by its youth compared to the 49ers teams.
In 2013, Seahawks aren't just getting scrub teams as the Seahawks only played 1 team that had a losing record at the time we played them. Most teams in the NFL wouldn't be 6-1 right now facing our schedule the way it was laid out plus our injury situation that took an average O-line and made it exceptionally worse. However, the fact still remains that most teams have had it "easier" in terms of schedule/injuries and yet aren't sitting at 6-1 on top of the NFC.
