.Net Temperature Check

I am expecting a loss, I’ve tried but can’t help myself.
I'm not 'expecting' a win or a loss. I think it's going to be a statement/yardstick game for us. EST game, decent opponent.

As goes the Lions game, so goes the season.... IMO.

I'm expecting a 'competitive' game. Hopefully the goddamned refs can let them play. Geez.

They are -4 - but that's homefield advantage talking. I think it's a 50/50 game. I have respect for/like Campbell. Weird ass thing that he had to sell his house....

I do know that I'm looking forward to it. Even a night game, which I usually don't like.

I don't really follow the Lions. What is their roster health looking like? I saw K9 is doubtful for the Hawks among other missing starters. I think that plays a role in this game, against a good team that will be extra motivated to not go 2-2 at home. I am sadly expecting a loss BUT at worst case a hard fought close loss (at worst) is still a win for these Hawks. But of course hoping for a win. Anything but a blowout loss, which would be scream "pretenders" which none of us want. If it is a convincing win and the Lions don't implode after this game (showing them as "pretenders"), lookout NFL MM's Seahawks are here.

If I'm not mistaken this is also MM's first HC game on primetime, so that will also be something to follow.

IF they lose to Detroit, it does NOT just mean this team is paper tigers or whatever stupid wording people use.
It just means they lose a game to a good team. I just know what the narrative will be. They're gonna' lose some games.

I think we can't make a true judgement just on an outcome alone regarding the strength of a team. Because a lot of factors come into play in every game. Did there seem to be some huge penalties at crucial moments at the game that were questionable calls? Or take the officials out of the equation, were there huge injuries that occurred that no doubt impacts the strength of the team on the field. Lastly the victory/loss itself looks dramatically different if the game comes down to the wire vs having your ass handed to you on a silver platter by half time. i.e. Opposing team goes up 4 scores by half time, 4th quarter your team scores 2 TDs to bring the game within 2 scores at the final, but everyone who was watching knew the opposing team started playing soft, switched to burning clock and their back up QB was already in to start the 4th quarter. Or what if a team had some really dumb mistakes, dropping balls at hand-off, muffing punts resulting in opposing team fumble returns putting them in a 2-3 score hole, yet still barely lost that game when they recovered. Was the other team really THAT good, or did they benefit from a good team making dumb mistakes.

The above applies to a win or loss.

In each of the last 2 seasons we have managed to outscore the "high-flying Detroit offense" in shootout games (BOTH times in Detroit), and in fact averaging 45 points per game scored over our last 3 contests.

Now we appear to have solved our defensive frailties while looking like we've picked up exactly where we left off offensively. Detroit don't look any better on the other hand
THIS. Except...

I think Detroit's D is a little better, Aidan Hutchinson's improvement alone makes them better.
If Woolen/Witherspoon/other Seattle DBs catch the INTs that hit them in the hands, and Detroit's DBs don't, Seahawks win.
Recall 2 years ago, Riq Woolen picked off Goff and took it to the house. That was why the Hawks won that game.
Both years, Geno balled out. He played with urgency to go up 2 scores, knowing the Lions O would score on the Hawks ass defense.
Plus K9 had some big runs IIRC.

How TF is the game in *Detroit* 3 years in a row?

“Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. Three times is enemy action” - Ian Fleming, Goldfinger

I think we're getting NFLFinger'ed on this one.

Yep. Win or lose on Monday, much to be determined.

I'm certainly expecting a loss if our best players at three crucial positions are out, yes. Not really rocket science there.

Yeah losing Williams and Murphy is massive. Hopefully at least one of them can make it back in time.

Center
DE (not hutchinson)
LB

All starters - and all out for the game- I think two of them are season ending injuries.

A bunch of guys questionable at this point including LaPorta.

I'm not expecting a loss. I think this game is a good barometer for where both our offense and defense are, a better barometer than the previous three games. I'm pretty excited to see how it plays out.

Detroit's injuries aren't an excuse if we win. Our injury list is long and impactful too. Should I assume that if the Lions win that it's only because of Seahawk injuries?

injuries are pretty ugly for both sides. The lions boards are most concerned about the center and the DE. They say the DE is very good and allows Hutchinson to be Hutchinson.

Regardless - both teams have their respective issues. But I think the Lions go as Amon Ra ST. Brown does - if we can shut that guy down they will struggle.

I am 100% always a homer. Common sense and practical thinking are always out the window when it comes to my Seahawk fandom. I always go into a game 100% expecting them to win. And then I ride the ensuing emotional rollercoaster through every high and every low and everything in between.

The national media will use it as an excuse if we win. You're correct, both teams have some substantial injuries, but Seattle has a 3rd string RT, issues with both guards , an ILB depth problem , our starting interior DL are both dinged and I'm not sure our RB1 will be 100%.

Did I leave anything out?
