Trey Lance had a high S2 cognition test score too. Now the 49ers are trying to sell him. I think AR could be in the same boat as Trey Lance. It's a risk I hope the Seahawks don't take.

The upside for Richardson is monumentally higher than any other option at 5 including Jalen Carter. He is not Malik Willis. They aren't in the same stratosphere athletically. Richardson is an all time athlete. Same build as Cam yet faster and a better arm. He does need development but thats the beauty of why he could be available to us at 5.
He is also very very young. Comparing him to Young, Stroud, Levis, or Hooker is absurd. Hooker has 5 years of playing time on AR. 5 years guys. Just because AR doesn't look polished like these top prospects doesn't mean he can't get there. He is immensely gifted.
Carter is far from a guarantee and has shown big flashing warning signs of not even being motivated yet you want him over a possible generational talent at QB?

Again, high score doesn't guarantee you'll be good, but a bad score does seem to indicate you'll struggle. Moral of the story: stay away from Stroud.

The NFL doesn't seem to view them remotely the same. Willis lasted till the third round. Richardson will be a top 5 pick most likely. Pointing to an overhyped prospect (by the media not NFL scouts) that was never close to the prospect that Anthony Richardson is doesn't prove anything.

At least Fig newton had one good season in college he could point to. Richardson? not so much. I don't see him going in the top 5, top 10 maybe. He's a 3rd round talent, real world. Amazing Athlete that sucks at playing QB.

A lot of talent evaluation is projection. Especially when a player so young is coming out. The extremely talented and polished prospects are rare, especially at QB.
Even they struggle at the next level (look at Trevor Lawrence). All QB's need developement and experience. You can't just write a guy off because his numbers were not outstanding his first year starting.
He has the arm, he has the atheleticism, he has the mental capacity to succeed at the most difficult and important position in football. He just needs some time and development to get there. If we don't take this chance now how else could we acquire a prospect with his kind of traits?
Trade away all our draft picks? Hope a team doesn't resign him after drafting and developing him? That isn't going to happen.
You simply can't get guys like this when you are a succesful franchise normally. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to get what could be an all time talent at THE MOST IMPORTANT POSITION IN FOOTBALL no less.
You have to take this swing at it imo.

Thats just setting him up for failure. Those are LONG odds for a top 10 draft pick. I feel bad for the young man. He should have stayed in college.

Perhaps he didn't feel he could get the kind of coaching he can get in the NFL? More than likely he was told he would be a high pick. With NIL it wouldn't have been about the money.
He would be in the perfect spot here to sit a year and learn the game plus refine his footwork etc. You just don't get an opportinty like this. I know in my lifetime I haven't seen the Seahawks with the chance at getting a QB like this.
Ask yourself this as a fan. Would I rather see a generational talent at QB or DT? Both would be awesome things but one is much more impactful than the other. Also Jalen Carter has shown clear warning signs of lacking motivation. AR has not.
