Michael Crabtree has already started practicing after tearing his achilles, like Anthony. Can we expect him to be back potentially after the bye week? Any news? It would be very nice to have him back.

Each team only gets one IR with designation to return, we chose NOT to use that moniker on McCoy. That allowed us to later use it on Okung. Would you rather have used it on McCoy, chance him making it back before the season, but also lose Okung for the season?

He was good at times, but boy did he pick his moments for dropping passes. I've been thinking about how Willson stacks up to him. McCoy the better blocker but inferior route runner? PC liked him enough at USC to draft him. I've also wondered about the potential of Cooper Helfet. Wonder what he is up to.

According to rotowold.com, he was placed on IR for the season and cleared waivers.

Next year he'll be a UFA that can sign with any team.

Best guess he'll find a team that will sign him to a respectable #2 TE contract.

And I'm also guessing that won't be Seattle.

He wasn't cut (nor entered an injury settlement) so how can he have cleared waivers? When you place someone on IR, the club still controls that player. McCoy was going into his last year here, so he'll be a free agent next year, but Seattle still is in control and could resign him if they elected to do so.

I hope McCoy doesn't wind up as another Deion Butler for us. I was pretty high on him as a potential bookend/eventual replacement for Miller. Just like I always wanted to see Deion Butler move into the bookend for Burleson. But both were struck down and in Deion's case he never quite made it back after the injury. Get well soon Anthony.

We wasn't immediatly placed on IR. We was waived/injured. It's a special designation where other teams are free to sign him with the full knowledge that he is injured. If he clears waivers he is placed on IR. The team can then decide to keep him on IR or work out an injury settlement.

He had some BIG catches last year. Interesting I haven't heard his name mentioned this year as a reason why Wilson has not had time to throw. I cant recall what kind of blocker he was, but I do know he opened up room for Miller to catch the ball.

McCoy was not eligible for IR-DFR. That's only for players who are on the active 53 man roster when/after the season begins. Best they could have done was put McCoy on the PUP list if they felt that he could plausibly return to action by the final third of the regular season, which obviously they didn't. Thus he was Waived/Injured and put on season-ending IR after he cleared waivers.

I honestly think we'd be pretty damned good at TE with Miller, Willson with a year of experience under his belt, and McCoy.
