the person who made this comment does not represent the majority of niners fans i just want to say that really quick

Oh I know man. I've stopped calling idiots niner fans. I only refer to idiots as webzoners.

Some of the Zoners are probably more concerned about Seahawks fans ripping on the Niners for it than they are the actual event and ramifications.

The linebacker transition tag is set at $9,754,000. The 49ers have until May 3 to decide on the option. If they elect to exercise the option, the salary immediately becomes guaranteed for injury only. The option salary will be guaranteed for injury, skill and cap-related termination if Smith is on the 49ers 53-man roster at the start of the player's fifth League Year (i.e., the option year).

It will be interesting to see if they elect to pick up Smith's option in the next two weeks. They may have the flexibility to release him for cause before the start of the 2015 season if he ends up serving jail time or is suspended by the league.

I have a dream. Its a simple dream. I dream of one day going 30 consecutive days without a 49er getting in trouble with the law.

I think Aldon just made a stupid comment while being a wise-a$$ after being pulled out of line by TSA, but that doesn't change the fact that to joke about a bomb in an airport you have to be...

a) A special kind of stupid.
b) Under the influence.

Neither is good. I'm hoping we find out something that makes this not so bad, but I'm not holding my breath.

In all honesty, IMO Aldon is insanely talented and could potentially be an NFL great...but he needs to get himself under control. WAY too immature right now. I guess when you have issues with alcohol its not unexpected to have a bump in the road on the way back to sobriety...but if he was intoxicated, this is very disappointing.

Is it possible he had been drinking in the lounge and actually said, “ I’m bombed”?

After reading a bit more, totally think he was annoyed at being "randomly" pulled out of TSA line and made a joke he should never have made.

Far more concerned right now with the implications that he might have been drinking earlier in the day.

Please don't think being annoyed justifies any of this. Hundreds of thousands of regular citizens are "annoyed" by secondary screening daily. But they seem to all be smart enough to not joke about a bomb. Aldon has money and fame. He truly has an "above the law" attitude. Even if he knew deep down that saying that would get him in trouble, his inability to respect the rules is what landed him in the situation. And anyone trying to down play it or justify it (webzoners) are in delusionville.

Sometimes, there are irrefutable facts in the world that cannot be disputed by anyone the world over under any possible circumstances.

One of those facts is now: "Aldon Smith is an idiot."

Because your first sentence is unnecessary. It is written purely to downplay the situation. Even if it was subconsciencely done. And what you say is only 2% as delusional as what webzoners are saying.

It was an overall reply to delusionville with your comment lighting the fire.

Well you were kind of reasoning why he did this in your first sentence. There's no need to come up with a reason for this whatsoever

........other than discerning what actually took place to put the reports in context.

I said what he did. It was stupid. My point was that he was kidding and not that he was a raving lunatic as the initial reports made it sound. My intent was to say he wasn't completely out of control, not that he wasn't a special kind of stupid.

I am also far, far more concerned with him possibly drinking than with making a stupid joke with a TSA agent. That doesn't mean that I don't think he should have been arrested...it just means that I'm concerned that the dude is an alcoholic and he may have fallen off the wagon.

....so sue me if my larger concern is the guys sobriety than making a very, very stupid joke.

^^ Glove, I don't think Marvin was justifying it. If he was drinking, he's really pushing his luck. The bomb thing was stupid but I don't think the team/org should make any personnel decisions based on that alone.

I'd probably sit his big ass down and ask him if he was drinking. If he said yes, I'd suspend him for 8 games and make him go to rehab in a place far, far away from anybody he knows for a very long time. That, or he gets cut.

Stupid is stupid but addicts will really make you regret keeping them around on any level.

No. You are concerned about his availability for your football team, not his sobriety.

I don't think so either...but I can see where his reasoning can lead to that confusion. Its kind of like adding a but/because after something really bad. There's no need for it

Firstly, you have zero idea what the context was yourself, so you don't need to enlighten us as if you have first hand insight.

Second, no one here has stated, linked to anything, or even thought that he was acting like a raging lunatic yelling he has a bomb. So by defending against something that no one has said, you are trying to downplay it.

Third, context has zero merit here when you say, LITERALLY, the single dumbest word you could say in an airport, regardless of intent.

IF he was drinking, I think he should go back to rehab. Not sure of the suspension though.

Obviously I want him on the field so I'm biased...but I also honestly think being away from the team is dangerous for him. Most times when he's gotten in trouble its been in the offseason when he hasn't had the structure of being around the team. I don't know that banishing him from the team will actually help him.

Still...he may end up facing a suspension regardless. Sigh.

The driking worries me more than the rest because that's what he has a history of. That's what has gotten him in trouble. That can derail a great career very quickly. Dude needs to get it under control or he's going to destroy his career.
