Huge win for the Mariners, has to rank in the top 5 wins in franchise history to this point. With our pitching staff depleted after playing a 15-inning game two days earlier, we needed a strong outing from our Game 1 starter, and that's exactly what we got.out of Bryce Miller.

Speier finally got over his penchant for giving up gopher balls, Brash and Munoz slammed the door in the 8th and 9th. I was looking at the pitch count and strikes. Between our three relievers, they threw 24 pitches, 20 of them for strikes. Nothing irritates me more than a relief pitcher who comes in with a two run lead then starts walking batters. Excellent work by our bullpen.

We should have gotten more runs as we blew a couple of scoring opportunities. I initially got mad when in the first inning, Cal Raliegh tried to score from third on a ground ball, but I quickly realized that they probably sent him to stay out of the double play and knew that if he was out, that we'd still have two on base with a runner in scoring position.

Early start today at 2:00pm.

Gilby was nails last outing. Hope he brings his A game on short rest today. I can't believe it has been 25 years since we last experienced this. Life is good!

Its a must win for the Jays today or the series is over. Ill go 4 -2 Jays.
I agree. The Jays need a win today a lot more than we do. If they lose today, it means that they have to go into our house and win 2 out of 3 just to get the series back to Toronto, and we've played very well at home this season. If we lose, we can still close it out with a home sweep.

Our bullpen made short work out of the 3 innings they were called on to pitch yesterday, just 8 pitches in each of the 3 innings, so they should be well rested.

Gilbert had a strong outing the last time he pitched, so let's hope he can repeat the performance. I'm optimistic.

The Jays are at where the Mariners were at after game 1 of the ALDS. How many teams in a 7 game series have come back 0-2 that had HFA? Any?

All the pressure is on the Blue Jays. I hope M's come in with some urgency, but this easily could be a let down game with us stealing game 1. I think we find out a lot about this team today.

Actually, quite a few teams have come back from an 0-2 deficit:

Of the 15 comebacks (from 0-2 deficits), 10 have come in the World Series, while five were in a League Championship Series (two in the AL and three in the National League), which was lengthened to a best-of-seven format beginning in 1985. Each of these comebacks occurred in series utilizing a 2-3-2 format, and interestingly, 12 of the 15 were accomplished by teams that did not have home-field advantage in the series. That does make some sense, as teams without that edge would at least be heading home for three games while down 2-0 in the series.

But your point is well taken. As I said in my previous remarks, this is a lot bigger game for the Jays as if they lose, they'd have to go into our house and win 2 out of 3 just to get the series back to Toronto, and we've played very well at home this season.

Can't wait. We Crack this phenom from the Jays and we are in the driver's seat. Magic number becomes 2. Dan Wilson has done all the right moves thus far. After Yesavage goes 5 innings...maybe we get to their bullpen. Our staff vs theirs down the stretch. Bunting, stealing bases, walking...

M's playing with house-money today. I hope it works to their advantage. There's a few guys in our lineup that have to start shortening up their swings a bit and making some more contact.

Go M's!
