We've all talked about his antics on the sidelines and in interviews.

I still truly believe he must have gone to an anger management seminar during the offseason because he is completely different in his aftergame interviews. Answers questions politely and clearly even tho you can see he is torn up inside about losses.

Even when we walloped them this year he was much better on the sidelines & after game interviews.

So let me give credit where credit is due. If he is trying to put forth a better version of himself as a coach I'm damned proud of him for doing so. Is it affecting his coaching? Who knows.

None of this means I like him better. But it does mean it takes a pretty good mind to realize he has to unwind a bit or he's going to be dead very young.

Probably got a little spanking from his dad and mom during the offseason. Pouting he lost to big brother John in last year's superbowl.

I disagree. I think he is completely fake and the only reason he has been more polite is because he would take a lot of heat continuing to act like a douche while losing. His players want to see accountability and him being defiant is going to cause his players to question his motivation. This is the first time in Harbaugh's career as coaching that he is seeing adversity. Up until now, everybody has kissed his ass because his teams have won (starting at San Diego State). If he had continued down the path he is on, the press would have tar and feathered him. He can act anyway he wants if they win..

Yeah he does seemed dialed down this year. If he is doing it purposefully, good for him.

While it gives us less to make fun of, at least he would be getting a grip on his life.

I actually though about creating this same thread but didn't want to start yet another Niners thread so I resisted but yes I have noticed it as well.

There are some good theories as to why but whatever the reason I don't think anyone can deny he is acting much more level headed thus far this season.

Let's wait for a full perspective on this till we kick their butts again this season.

Maybe it is as simple as his family, or someone else, telling him he looked and sounded like an idiot. Perhaps they pointed out to him that people were laughing at him, and not with him.

I still fully expect a complete meltdown, with little feet stomping and throwing objects, when we beat them again in their own house.

I think Jed York has grown a lot as an acting owner. And that is having an impact on Harbaugh. York seems to me to be affecting a cultural change of sorts withing the 49er organization. The old hateful Nolan and Singletary cuture that replaced their glory years is being replaced in turn with a considerably more mature culture.

York is having a meaningful affect on the team. Although, the 49er fan base is way ..... way behind on the learning curve.

Actually I thing the Yorks have really distanced themselves from the day to day stuff. Its now being ran by a nephew, grandson, or some such of Eddie and he is actually a Dibartillo. He's young, in his late 20s I believe and has been in charge for close to 3 years.

The Yorks the mrs included can't be bothered by a mere football team. Remember the time they left a game when the announcers mentioned they were in the owners skybox and when the camera panned over there they got up and left and bitched to security.

Now this is old news Jville so it might have changed since then. But that was the last I heard via a nice article in a business magazine I was forced to read somewhere while waiting for the wife to complete a doctors appointment. lol

FYI - Harbaugh did not coach The Aztecs, of San Diego State University.
He did coach The Toreros, at the University of San Diego (2004-2006.

Indeed .... young Jed York is the son I am crediting as having a strong positive affect on the 49er oganization ..... including a possitive affect on Jim Harbaugh.

Yes, Jed York replaced his parents and began day to day oversight of 49er business a couple of years ago. The young York consults with his uncle and former 49er owner Eddie DeBartolo on a routine basis.

You have to remember that the league decided to penalize sideline antics like his beginning this season.

I don't care why just like I don't care why Tate is all of a suddenly putting the ball down on the ground instead of behaving like spoiled brat running towards the end-zone.

The point of it is the behavior that is on display is improved.

Couldn't care less about the motiviation or sincerity behind it

I suspect the defeats are having an impact.

When you pretty much win every week -- as Harbaugh has for years at Stanford/San Fran -- you can act any way you want to the media.

But when it's time to answer a few concerns, you've got to do it. You can't bring the attitude.

Maybe Harbaugh is getting used to losing these days. So it's becoming more normal for him.

Sound like we have the same information only different from different directions.
