This guy should know better. He's got the inside scoop, but now even he's gone off the deep end, yelling at the Defense, blaming Tre Flowers (as if One Player can be the cause).

Jake Heaps pointing the finger at the defense has the potential to start a wedge between the Defense and the Offense? Why? Because he's Russell Wilson's buddy, and it will be easy for the Defense to start thinking that Jake is echoing Russell Wilson.

Absolutely idiotic! "How to Trash a Team 3 games in to the Seaosn"

Step 1: Jake Heaps "Say it's over, and blame the Defense as a way to misdirect attention on the Offense."

(He didn't actually say "It's over," but for a former NFL player, and confidant of the starting QB to go off like this, it's easy for fans to jump to that conclusion." This is completely unprofessional behavour.

Step 2: Have Bob Stelton parrot .NET "Fire Norton" Really? And then he claims that the Defense's improvement last year basically doesn't matter because they played bad teams.

EVERY NFL team can beat ANY other NFL team, and there are rarely bad teams. If there were bad teams, we wouldn't have changing of the guard every single year.

Step 3. Have Mike Salk and Brock Huard spread Doom & Gloom around the PNW. They did the same exact thing last year.

One would have thought that we won the NFCW by pure luck. Even though we're in the the best divsin in football. AND, this is not new. The NFCW has produced the best teams/division year in and year out for over a decade. Just look at how many Superbowl teams we've produced.

Step 4: Let's add someone else to the Doom & Gloom crowd. Rob Staton. I love Rob, and admire his work, but the last 2 years, he's been on the same sinking boat at Brock Huard. There is no in between with either of these guys. It's all bad.

Step 4: Let's give up before the season has even started, and not give any credit to the other teams being any good.

Here's a news flash! The RUNNING GAME is IMPORTANT in the NFL!!! Everyone has complained about "Pete Ball," but look at the teams that have beat us by winning Time of Possession. They have an excellent running game.

And when have the Seahawks been good? When they're able to run the ball. Is it any coincidence that this team's success has mirrored the success of Marshawn Lynch and Chris Carson?

Please people, it's NOT OVER! And let's put a stop to all the bickering, finger pointing, and "blame mongering!" Geebus! THat's all I've heard from 710 ESPN! "Who's to blame!" "Let's tear somebody down!"

People are griping about Pete's press conference. I applaud him! Why? Because he's following Rule #1 Protect the Team. He's smart enough to know that pointing the finger can only cause disintegration in a sport that relies explicitly on team play!

But apparently, that's not the popular approach!

Everyone wants someone to blame. Someone to point the finger at. Why? Because that takes zero effort. Zero thought. They can play the blame game, then feel good about themselves for solving the problem. That seems to be the approach at 710. After all, it's much easier than actually doing any work.

Some of this I agree with, but we DID win the NFC West by pure luck.

If the wheels did not fall off the 49ers, we wouldn't have sniffed the division title.

And they should Fire Norton. I agree.

Norton needs to go. He needed to go two years ago. Ultimately it's on Pete and mgmt. for keeping him around.

I'm glad they are getting on board with many of us here. Perhaps some changes will happen starting with PC being given his golden watch and having him exit stage right.

and yes a single horrible link in the chain can cause the whole defense to fail. Always having a sure bet 10 yard pass to Flowers guy knowing there will be no defensive line pressure means they can play easy and loose.

12-4 and 4-2 against the division. Hardly luck, and every team deals with injuries. Nobody sympathized with the hawks losing the division in 2019 in the last game with a RB they signed off the street. It’s always luck when the Hawks win and excuses why the others lose.

Look at what Dan Quinn is doing with the Dallas D. Why didn't we go get him?
It matters who we have at DC. KNJ is NOT THE ANSWER. This has been clear for some time. It was a complete failure not to move on in the off-season.
Firing him now may not fix the problems but it sure won't make them worse and at least they can start looking for a competent replacement.

Burying your head in the sand and acting like this team has no issues is not going to get this team where it needs to be.

It's funny, the Chiefs are 1 - 2 yet nobody over there is saying "Fire Andy Reid" or "Trade Patrick Mahomes!" Even after his stupid "No Look Interception.

Maybe they should "Cut Clyde Edwards Helaire" after his fumbles. Or "Fire Steve Spags!"

John Clayton: "Like every year, Offenses are ahead of Defenses. 8 of the Top 10 defenses from last year have dropped out of the Top 10, some in to the 20s, and Washington is now ranked #31"

"The only 2 from last year left in the Top 10 are New Orleans and Green Bay,"

And of course Stelton has to throw hyperbole out there. We were beat by Klint Kubiak, what is he 17 years old?

Klint Kubiak is a very good OC, he's been in the game quite a while, playing, then coaching, and at 33 years old, he's also the son of the a winning head coach. He got the job for a reason.

And...the Vikings are a good team, and by all rights, should be 3 and 0. If not for a missed 37 yard field goal, by a kicker that had just made several 50+ field goals, and a late game fumble by Dalvin Cook, they would be 3 and 0. It's not as if we lost to some scrubs.

You are talking about the Super Bowl appearing Chiefs from LAST year instead on the 3 playoff wins in 6 Years Seahawks who lost in theSuper Bowl SEVEN years ago. I get it. PC has a lifetime pass from some. But less so every day.

Not ignoring the Hawks obvious defensive problems but if look at Dan Quinn’s defense I see…

A defense that has allowed
995 yards passing
8 ypp
7 td
331 ypg
And 4.7 ypr

All more than the Hawks have allowed. Not exactly stellar.

If we were in New York the press would be a lot more combative. The Seattle press rarely asks tough questions of area coaches and when they do they allow the respondent to reply with word salad.

It's fine to dislike Flowers and his level of play, but to blame him for the defensive struggles is to truly misunderstand what's going on. Everyone's blowing coverages. This isn't a one-weak-link situation.

It's the same breakdown in basic assignments that we saw in 2020, and it's something that needs to be figured out. Its clear that everyone is on a different page from the guy next to them.

Flowers is playing off, Diggs is expecting guys to cover differently than they are, Reed is getting torched, and Adams is seemingly over-aggressive. The linebackers aren't playing well. Taylor is flashing but also losing his gap sometimes. It's a mess, and it seems like the coaches are on different pages too.
