Right, becuase the Seahawks arent loaded with experienced players in the system at CB:

Shead
Simon
Smith
Seisay
Jean-Bapitisse
Browner
Lane (if needed)

What makes you think a 5th round CB would make a difference in a draft where teams were already pulling DBs off the board like crazy.

Grades mean what exactly? Very rarely do the Seahawks trade up for a player, let alone give up a future pick.

Honestly, you should trust that they identified a role for him and graded him the best fit with the players left on the board.

Reminds me a bit of Fletcher Cox.
Whoa, that would be quite something if he performs in that stratosphere. Coming from you, that makes me even more excited to see what he brings to the team.
Fletcher Cox was also an athlete that wasn't the strongest at the POA when he came out. He was a pure 1 gapper who needed to learn how to keep his arse and pad level low. He was essentially a pass rusher only coming out and developed an overall game over the course of his first 2-3 years. He was not a complete player, but rather a high ceiling player.

He could be a little under the radar because Marylands uniforms are so ugly the players are difficult to watch. He will look much better in his new uniforms.

This draft is interesting. Jefferson is a guy I started looking at about a month ago. One of several players. But, I liked his solid personal life and immediately thought this could be a guy the Hawks like to scout. I was a bit apprehensive to post about a couple of players b/c there is quite an adherence to SPARQ and other methods that are beloved on this board. I'm not against those, but one risks ridicule for suggesting football players that don't "fit the Seahawks" perceived draft profile. As much as I post on .net, I often hold opinions to myself.

I was also looking at Prosise, Odhiambo and Vannett. I didn't include Jefferson in my mock draft b/c I even though I thought he could be a possible target, more thought he was a late rounder or maybe even UDFA. Probably the only one I thought they'd actually draft is Odhiambo, so not at all saying I knew these would be our picks. Just talking about the players that the Seahawks would even consider. Only so many picks, so it's tough to prove how "right" or "wrong" we are as we evaluate. But, this draft is proving to me that the Hawks do not rely on SPARQ, but certainly use it as an assessment tool.

Why do you care about other posters opinions? You have just as much right to your thoughts as anyone else.

Next year just post your opinions and to hell with anyone who doesn't agree. I do and could care less what others may think.
I appreciate that. Well, it's not that I overly care. I'm human, so I do to some extent. But, it's more that if my opinion doesn't fit the consensus "Seahawks Profile", it doesn't feel worth getting into it. I actually appreciate the digging many put into this and I'm first looking to question my own opinions and learn from others. I don't mean to sound like I'm complaining. Just saying this draft is teaching me something in regards to all this.

He looks pretty athletic on his tape. Good pursuit, good instincts, seems to have good awareness. My one concern watching some footage is that he relies on that swim move a lot. I'm not sure that's going to work against NFL starting caliber lineman. I did see that he was able to engage and release pretty quickly when he couldn't straight up beat his man. He seems to be the pass rushing specialist whereas Reed is the run stopper. He does remind me of Michael Bennett. He lined up a little wider a good bit and would almost rush from the DE position. I think he's versatile and athletic and you know that's what this team loves. I think he's going to be good once he catches up to the speed of the NFL. Good pick.

Not much to go off of, but his highlight reel reminds me of Rocky Bernard.

Jefferson's highlights are beastly. I wish I had more to watch, he looks like a steal.

The Seahawks needed to add a three technique who can rush the passer and Quinton Jefferson could be a sneaky good pick.

Here's the important bit from that link.
I had him down as a sixth-round prospect, so I don't know why Seattle moved up for him.

Think about that on a conceptual level. If a blogger happens to rate a player differently from a NFL team is that actually interesting? These draft "grades" are a summation of how closely the ratings lined up. If they are different should that reflect on the team or the blogger? Or neither? NFL teams all have different evaluations from each other and so it's hardly noteworthy if third party opinions are also different.

For example, Mike Mayock thought Jefferson was a fourth round talent. Does that mean this is suddenly a good pick?

I don't mind giving up a future 4th. The 4th round Seattle will lose will probably be in the #130 range, and the pick they received today was pick #147. The swap of 7th rounders is nothing. It was fairly inexpensive as far as trade up scenarios go.

Definitely a one-gap penetrator with a helluva swim move. Nice motor and seems to always be able to locate the ball.

Will be interesting to see if he can do that against NFL o-lines. :)

Maryland is in the Big 10. That's a pretty high level of competition at the moment.

Jefferson and Bryant... I wonder if we even keep hill this year.

It will be a captivating camp this year.

Not that I'm trying to sound crtical, but once his initial swim-move get-by is done, isn't he hesitating a tiny bit, and perhaps telegraphing his intentions a little?

Seems to go into a kind of slow motion juuuuust a tad as he enters the backfield.

Russell will make him pay in training camp.

I don't mind it though. Seems that he does it to be sure he has located the ball before erroneously chasing a play.

As always, PFF's rankings have to be taken with a grain of salt. But it's worth mentioning that PFF graded Jefferson as one of the better run defending DTs in the draft. So he's more than just a pass rusher with 6.5 sacks last season, he may end up as a complete three down 3-tech.
