In the late 80's my buddy who is an awesome guy and born & raised in Washington took his then 6 year old son to the Kingdome to see the Hawks vs Cardinals. A little back story. My friend was years earlier stationed in St. Louis in the marine corp and the Cards had become his 2nd team.
They walked to the Kingdome with his son dressed in Seahawk jersey and hat and him with Cardinals jersey & hat.
Wayne Cody was outside the stadium and interviewed father and son which my buddy said was really cool.
I guess things went pretty well until St. Louis took the lead and eventually won the game.
In that span of time they were pelted by popcorn, beer and obscenities in intermittent fashion. In the midst of it all he stood up faced the aggressors and said, "Hey! I'm a Seahawk fan from Washington, I've got my boy here. The Cardinals are my 2nd team." Or something to that effect.
If the Hawks hadn't lost it probably wouldn't have went that way.
My buddy admitted it probably wasn't the wisest choice to don the red but that kind of treatment with his son present was in poor taste.
I think this little story could serve as a learning exercise for us all.
It's a game my friends.
I’ll be completely honest.
My wife and I have been to Seahawk away games at almost every stadium.
Although there has been banter and back n forth, we have NEVER had a problem anywhere.
I believe problems can and do happen, and many times they happen w/o provocation, but I honestly think that people get treated according to how they act.
I tend to understand what it means to be in a house other than my own, not sure everyone does.
