At first glance it sounds like a good way to maintain order & civility but in today's society things aren't always handled fairly or objectively. Once implemented it's probably just a matter of time until a faction of undercover officers turn into overzealous airline stewardess' and bounce 12's for yelling too loud behind 49er fans.
Hopefully this doesn't evolve into excessive celebration or unsportsmanlike judgement calls made by an officer who isn't a Hawk fan. We already have the refs pitted against us enough, we don't need them in the stands too.

Why stop at being undercover in opposing team garb? There are plenty of Geno & RW3 jerseys to go incognito and bust any smack talkin' 9er fan that thinks the Kapernnick uncover seated nearby will save his ass, lol.
Seems a little excessive, with the makings of interpretation & possible entrapment. Like a few extra uniformed officers with trained eyes would be a better deterrent.
I am against the harassment or mistreatment of opposing fans. I just hope this new sting operation functions fairly and 12's aren't ousted for accidently spilling popcorn on a disgruntled 49er fan.

I would think visable uniformed cops would keep things in order as well. Just like seeing a cop car keeps most people from speeding.

Man….I was pleasantly surprised when I went to Detroit for a Hawks game.

Indianapolis though…walking with my young (at the time) kids and had to endure every curse word you can think of while walking up to the stadium.

Had it not been for my family being with me, I would’ve took some Colts fan teeth with me that night.
The worst stadium I went to was Arrowhead. I thought those Midwestern types were supposed to be nice .

I wouldn't trust a Breitbart article with a gun to my head.
True. More likely a conspiracy against the Seahawks. C'mon, you can say the same thing about every news site whether its them, cnn, fox , or the wall street journal. Every one of them has some truth and some total BS. This article sourced ESPN and a fan poll. Wasn't an opinion piece.

Then I guess the undercover police are there to make sure the soda isn't watered down.

But why be “under cover” to prevent violence?

Uniformed would obviously be way better, besides that, as soon as they intervened in one incident they would no longer be “under cover”.
Whole thing sounds askew to me.

Was that the game 4 years ago? The little parachute army men ect :ROFLMAO:
I was there and so was another member of this board, we didn't have
any issues at Lucas Oil and we both had Hawks gear on.
The walking up is chaotic because of the parking situation around the
stadium - bunch of lots ect that converge onto the gates, so it's crowded.
People like to cuss no doubt in Indiana but it's not most, it seems like
the loud ones do it more (drunk?)

In the late 80's my buddy who is an awesome guy and born & raised in Washington took his then 6 year old son to the Kingdome to see the Hawks vs Cardinals. A little back story. My friend was years earlier stationed in St. Louis in the marine corp and the Cards had become his 2nd team.

They walked to the Kingdome with his son dressed in Seahawk jersey and hat and him with Cardinals jersey & hat.
Wayne Cody was outside the stadium and interviewed father and son which my buddy said was really cool.
I guess things went pretty well until St. Louis took the lead and eventually won the game.
In that span of time they were pelted by popcorn, beer and obscenities in intermittent fashion. In the midst of it all he stood up faced the aggressors and said, "Hey! I'm a Seahawk fan from Washington, I've got my boy here. The Cardinals are my 2nd team." Or something to that effect.
If the Hawks hadn't lost it probably wouldn't have went that way.
My buddy admitted it probably wasn't the wisest choice to don the red but that kind of treatment with his son present was in poor taste.

I think this little story could serve as a learning exercise for us all.
It's a game my friends.

True , but I've visited different stadiums and never had much issue yet at Arrowhead everyone was a dick down to the little lady that took out tickets at the stadium. Maybe they were all having a crappy ,no good very bad day.

Just read an article about Lumen Field putting undercover cops in the crowd for Seahawks games. Apparently we have the 5th most violent and unruly stadium after the Vikings, Broncos, Texans, and the Chiefs. And here I thought Philly fans were the worst people on earth.
I live 40 minutes south of Philly. Went to the playoff game there where Jadeveon Clowney late hit Carson Wentz. It's really not that bad, surprisingly. Thought Clowney was gonna get my ass kicked but they honestly seem to hate their own team more when they're losing.

I imagine now that they're much cockier and terrible with success backing them.

.............. I don't have a problem with the announced plan or it's details. After reading thru the details, it looks like a beneficial project for enhanced safety and stadium experience.

There are other alternate venues near by for those seeking a fat, drunk and stupid outing.

Seattle is in the top 5 for crime in 2024, it really does make sense
What makes sense, though? If you're saying that the Seahawks stadium is located in the middle of an urban area, unlike most NFL stadiums, of course there's going to be a higher crime rate in such a location. But the OP's thread suggests that the Seahawks stadium is one of the least safe "within the stadium itself", which, if you follow the next link in the article, another part of the survey shows that is clearly not the case.

As far as I know, there is no definitive set of stats that could properly rank all the NFL stadiums in terms of safety within the stadium itself. All this survey said to me was that people feel less safe going to stadiums located in higher crime areas (Duh!), and when asked what stadiums they feel least safe in, Seahawk stadium wasn't near the top of the list.

Basically, the article made the issue more confusing than clarifying to me. I got less smart from reading it.

I suppose if you use metrics on a broad spectrum..... They equate violent crime to almost literally anything while in reality we are 12th in homicide ... Car theft to literally an alarm going off or a "call for it" etc ...

We are liberal here... we report everything and anything... that data is based on "reports" not actual incidents confirmed etc.

We frequent seattle for the Mariners, for the Seahawks, for the Seattle Wedding show yearly... we handle clients and over 40 events inside downtown Seattle.

Some how.. I seem to be missing all this crazy crime thats going on.... its typically homeless derps, and the Fent Hang druggies.

Walk around any City at 1 and 2 am drunk and dumb crap will happen.

Maybe to catch people in the act and them banning them from ever returning to a game.

We like to protect our home turf. We got a lot of ruffians in the crowd. Blue collared dock workers, loggers and fishermen drunk as all get out and loud af. Be ready for it
