I could agree if one thing was different at the time.

Our Defense couldn’t breathe, they were gassed.

Fresh Defense and I’m on board, gotta look at the whole picture and I think coach didn’t.
That’s a GREAT point.

I think our defense had a lot of good breaks. Missed field goal blocked field goal and two picks. That’s four times that we got stops that were kinda lucky. Great plays and stuff but you can’t count on four drive stopping breaks…
We'd kept them out of the end zone since the first drive of the first quarter. That's not lucky.

The picks were because we were getting pressure. Purdy was running for his life more than once.

The fact that we were tied instead of down was lucky because you expect the kicker to make those FG, but that was the reality of the situation.

Playing not to lose instead of playing to win with everything on the line was a bad message to send.
Just another just give the ball to Marshawn moment.
What kind of mentality are we building here? The defense has swagger but the offense doesn't?
I guess with the OLine improved, a FB, Charbs, KK's run the ball mindset and being at home I thought they'd go for it.
I bet they go for it next time.

I’m mad we lost but this is week 1. We are way better than we played. 84 rushing yards on 24 carries. If we ran like that for 50 carries, including Sam Darnold on boot legs, we woulda held onto the ball longer and we woulda won this game

Yes we did keep them out of the end zone but for a lot of the game it felt like we couldn’t stop anything

I thought it was the wrong call, and not in retrospect for me. It's 10-10 at about the 20 with about 3:30 left on clock. If you pick up the first down, the percentage jumps that we win the game. Then we run down the clock trying to get another first down or TD, and if we fail we just kick a chip shot FG. If we fail to get the first down, they're pinned pretty deep in their territory, the game is still tied, and we have all of our timeouts and the two minute warning to work with.

We were getting beat in about every key statistical category in the game, yet here we had a chance to dramatically tilt the game to our advantage, and possibly put it away, or come very close to it. I thought kicking the FG there gave us an advantage, but not at all a big one. After we kicked it, I thought to myself...this well might be an OT game.

meh i thought it was the right call. Defensively we had the momentum before Reek stanked it up. Darnold didn't look like a player that would be able to make a comeback if we didn't convert and the 49ers ended up getting a score. Darnold seem like a very expensive game manager pretty much all 4 quarters but he did surprise me a bit at the last 1 minute. Just bad luck with the fumble.

Mike Macdonald played the game not to win by going for the FG and eventually lost the game. 4th and less than one for a first down. WHY the hell did they draft Jalen Milore if there not gonna used like the New Orleans saints used T.Hill to me it looks like a waste of a pick

It just goes against everything he did last year. He was ultra aggressive in those situations. It wasn't a dumb decision, and I can see his reasoning, but we were screaming for him to go for it and just close out the game.

I know hindsight is 20/20 but in real time I was yelling at the tv. Worst that happens is it’s a tie game and they have to drive the field for a FG, best case we drain the clock, score a TD and make them burn timeouts. The analytics had to be go for it.

I hated that call in real time and argued with my mother-in-law that it was a dumb call. Father-in-law agreed with me though
Yep, me, too. I was yelling at the TV. There's about a 95% chance of getting a first down, and even if we were to get stuffed, it wouldn't have been the end of the game as we had all 3 of our timeouts and the Niners inside their own 30. At the very least, put Milroe in there and try to draw the defense offside and take the 5-yard delay of game. There's virtually no difference between a 34 yd FG attempt and a 39 yarder.

It's also a sign of no confidence in his offense and the OL in particular. I can guarantee you that those guys wanted to go for it.

That was the worst game decision by a Seahawk head coach that I've seen in a long time. I'm sure if I can think of a worse one if given enough time or if someone were to remind me, but at this moment, it stands alone. I'm putting this loss directly on Mac's shoulders. Many more of those decisions and I'm off the bandwagon.

I think all things considered, the better call would have been to go for it. I understand that call would have required quite a fair bit of courage but given the situation it would have improved our chances to win. I agree with all of the sentiments about Woolen though. Just don't want to see him wearing the Seahawks uniform again. What he was doing on the TD play, Lord only knows.

A hc with a background in offense goes for that. Ours has a background in defense. He's going to trust his defense to get the job done and not have one clown ruin everything. I hope Mac sends a clear message and Riq is MIA in Pittsburgh.

Purdy had like 5 passes that we dangerous enough where they could have been intercepted

Defensive pressure helped make those and he's typically not sloppy with the ball

We had pressure on Purdy sometimes, but there were a lot of times where he was comfortable in the pocket with time to throw. The people and I who watched the game together remarked several times that he had all day to throw the ball. It was a very mixed bag when it came to QB pressure yesterday. I think even the defensive stats I looked at painted an exaggerated picture of our pass rush pressure.

Try to put the game away there. If the argument was that you trusted your defense, then if you don't make the first down, the 9ers are pinned pretty deep in their own territory, and your defense will have the chance get the ball back for you to try to win the game. You had all of your timeouts and the two minute warning, which, if you play it right, would give you two chances to stop them and get the ball back. To me, it was a clear go for it.
