It's only day one, and the 49ers have already lost Javon Hargraves, Charvarious Ward, Aaron Banks, and Talanoa Hufanga. That's four starters. It's going to be a very different team next year.
I knew the Niners would be losing Hargrove. Hargrave wasn’t anything to write home about. Everyone knew Ward was going to leave. Ward said himself it hurts him to be in California. Gotta feel for the guy. Hufanga, was likely gone as he had a lot of injuries…

Pretty much suspected these guys to leave the Niners from my vantage point.

Yes, it was pretty well known that they weren't going to be able to re-sign everyone. Still, they're going to be significant losses for them. And they were all major pieces, even Hargraves is more than a jag.

The 49ers have most of their core intact on offense and defense while having a lot of picks in the mid rounds which is the sweet spot of the 2025 NFL draft.

They have a ton of draft picks this year. More than us I believe. Plus they will be getting a lot next year after losing all those guys in free agency.

Also, the 49ers are finally going to be able to pick higher in the draft order so they will have the pick of players they want.

But if you lose Greenlaw, Hargraves, Hufanga and Ward on defense, that's a lot. That's four plus starters. You still have Bosa and Warner, but I think a chunk of the core on the defense is gone. And on offense they've already lost Deebo and Banks is an above-average guard.

49ers have the 3rd most draft capital by the value charts. Seahawks have moved up to 6th most after the trades.

They have a chance to retool a bit which sucks because I want them to fall in a deep dark hole never to be seen again.

I think the division is going to be much tougher next season, it was pretty weak this year.

Hufuanga was replaced with Mustapha last season. I think huff only played 2 games. Hargrave never played the whole season because he was injured. Mooney ward was replaced by Renardo Green last season. He missed half the season because he lost his daughter .Greenlaw never played the whole season last year.

The biggest loss is obviously greenlaw on D. There is no replacement as of yet. I would expect a first 4 round LB drafted

Banks got overpaid. Puni was drafted last year.

These losses would be huge if they did not have an excellent draft last year .

It's unlike you, but you have rose-colored glasses on here. One of the reasons the 49ers had a bad season last year was because of the injuries. It seems to me that the best hope of a return to winning is to get those players back. But if instead of getting those players back, you lose them to other teams, how is that going to be better?

The 9ers took a big hit in FA losses and they also lost their capable #2 QB in Joshua Dobbs to the Patriots. SF will now be another team for QB competition in the draft.
If JS & Kubiak identify a QB they really like, they would be well served to take him a round early verses later.
John got lucky RW lasted until the 3rd when he wanted to take him in the 2nd.
It would suck to have Lynch or anyone undercut us and take our guy as their draft slating is before us.
If a QB rises up the board in this weak class, there will be competition to get him.
