The joke is that they're a sweat stain on the armpit of the NFL. Get it now?

:D

AHHH...I get it....

....The difference is Roman being allowed to interview while Fangio is not?

um....duh? Roman won't be back. He's free to investigate any job. If you are saying there is a double standard in that they will let the guy they don't want interview elsewhere but won't let the guy they want to keep interview elsewhere...

....then um, yeah, guilty.

Kinda goes without saying though.

But ...... but ...... they are 86ing the 47 year old and refusing an interview opportunity for the "old" 56 year old to move on.

That is so inconsistent with the other recent news.

Makes you wonder about the claim, doesn't it?

I mean its not like people looking to get paid overstate or lie. :D

BTW...Shanahan is 62 and got an interview.

Actually ..... it suggests to me that they just make their rational up as they go. Not at all uncommon in these times. Guess it is characteristic of the new information/disinformation age.

Don't see the big issue here.. the Niners don't want to let Fangio make a lateral move.. I'm sure their preference is to keep him in SF if at all possible.

*shrug*

The big issue is you're creating a hostile climate where your coaches aren't allowed to move on if they want to. It's a very hostile way to run an organization.........and will eventually result in contempt and resentment.

No matter what business you're in, you should never hold your employees back from bettering their lives.

Sure...but somehow I doubt Seattle would be granting permission for Dan Quinn to seek employment as a DC elsewhere in the league while he is still under contract. HC? That's a different matter.

Why should teams let coaches walk away from contracts when they don't let players do so?

Nobody makes a fuss about not letting HCs switch teams when they are still under contract...why should it be any different with a lateral move at a Coordinator spot?

Or perhaps, as fans of all teams are guilty of, we simply over-generalize and paint with a broad brush on topics we really don't know a damn thing about....and I'm referring to all of us here. I'm just as guilty.

We seldom really know why anyone does anything for sure, but that doesn't stop any of us from making assumptions based on very little information and then standing on a soapbox (again..not an attack...I'm guilty too).

IIRC, the NFL doesn't allow lateral moves. If you hire someone else's coach, you have to give them a bump in position, like from OC to HC.

That is not at all fair to fans. That dismisses management accountability and gifts an undeserved free pass. That is just wrong. The burden is on the organization to be clear and forth coming. Responsibility for published/leaked vagueness and inconsistency is all on management. It is management that owns the authority and control ..... not fans. Fans should know and feel comfortable with what they are supporting. To settle for anything less is to enable and facilitate bad management.

I guess I'm in the minority of people who really can't stand the media so thinks the teams don't own them a damn thing.

In fact, some of the guys in the media I hate the most are the ones who think something is owed to them.

Fans tho...I can see that. they are the ones paying for the product.

What I meant tho in general is that WAY too often something very small happens and we all paint with a broad brush and make assumptions about things we don't know about (and I don't mean we aren't smart enough or wise enough...I mean we don't know the particulars of individual situations).

That of course never stops us from passing judgment.

Anyone else feel the Niners are like the huge dump you take after a big, delicious meal and now you're watching them swirl down the toilet?
