I think the franchise thought by signing Colt McCoy we were getting a poor man's Alex Smith. Instead we got a poor man's Ken Dorsey.

McCoy absolutely sucks from what I have seen.

As does Tolzien.

We have no backup QB.

How does the rookie QB/WR/KR/RB/Clipboard holder look?

BJ Daniels? Good...but in a very small sample size against fringe NFL players.

Yeah, BJ Daniels.... is he penciled in as #3 then? Still, Seneca Wallace is trash, so I'm a little surprised.... I can imagine how bad McCoy and your other guy must look to prompt the FO to make a call to Seneca.... lol

Not yet...going in I had assumed Practice Squad, but both McCoy and Tolzien have looked BAD. Some of it isn't their fault because they have't had much protection back there. The backup interior line is good...tackles not so much. If the Niners had any injuries at tackle they wouldn't be plugging in a backup tackle tho...they'd slide Alex Boone out to tackle and replace him with one of their better guards (Kilgore, Looney, etc).

Poor McCoy in particular has been under siege. Still, he's made his share of bad throws, so it isn't all on the line.

Some of us are a bit concerned about our oline also, but I will say TJax has looked pretty good for our backup situation....

The 49ers do know that the Seneca Wallace WR conversion project never really panned out, right?

As much pub as the #2 WR situation gets, the #2 QB situation is looking really grim. In 2 games I don't think Colt has posted a QB rating over 30. Ouch.

If Kaepernick goes down for an extended amount of time, you guys are screwed in terms of winning the division anyway. Not a big deal in the big picture of things.

I think with the defense and RBs you have, McCoy or Daniels could get you to 2-3/3-2 across five games and keep you in the wild card hunt. Past that, it doesn't matter who the backup is.

Maybe your FO is packaging a deal in hopes of luring KC into an Alex Smith trade? lol

Seems to me that the 49ers want to put Daniels on their practice squad, unless they keep 3 QBs. If they do, I'd like to see Seattle make a move for him. That way, one of two things will happen, both of them good:

#1: It forces SF to burn a roster spot to protect Daniels.
#2: If SF passes, and Seattle doesn't want Daniels on their roster, they can cut him the next day and sign him to their PS.

I would be 100% fine with burning a roster spot on Daniels if it came to that, and I suspect SF is the same. I think Daniels would be a very nice QB in our offense, but at the very least, Seattle shouldn't pass on a chance to dick around with SF's roster plans.

LMAO! That'd piss off Harbdouche for sure! Might be worth it just for that factor alone! :)

^^^lol ya buddy. Off a superbowl trip and also beating Atlanta in Atlanta something the Hawks could not do that. 2 time division champs and a pretty darn good roster. People bash our WR corps but they forget we made it to the NFC Champ game with a worst wideout group than we have now. Crabtree had done nothing in 2011 and outside of him we had nothing.

That's criminal, now I never expected anything from McCoy but Seneca isn't the answer. If I were you guys I would snap up Vince Young as soon as Green Bay cuts him (which should be 3 seconds after we play them on the23rd).

Wasn't being sarcastic btw. He still has talent especially if someone is a bit patient and say what you will Hairball can develop quarterbacks.

In 2011 the Niners didn't give up a shitload of passing yards either. The 2012 Niners gave up that ass like a hooker on Navy night in the Phillipines. I dunno, maybe they are better now, we will see, especially with Cowboy back.

Nor did they pass the ball with any real frequency unless they had to. The Kaepernick Niners are not in the same realm of ball control as the Smith Niners were. WR was a little used position until CK took over. Both the Hawks and Niners embarrassed Atlanta with sizeable comebacks, the difference being Atlanta only needed a FG to beat Seattle.

Sure would have liked to seen that 3rd game in SF last year for the NFCC. Now THAT would have been an epic battle. That's OK, the Hawks had a good run with a bunch of kids that are returning so that maybe we get the chance to see that game played in Seattle this year.

If Seneca Wallace becomes a Niner? Weird... He was a great backup for the Hawks. The guy has won in SF before :)
